Hi guys. Im here because my bike (cr250 2002 which I completely felt in love with) had a problem, the clutch cover got damaged and it broke a screw, the engine parts will be replaced but since the engine is going out of the bike I decided to make a complete restoration and make my bike unique and give it a new look, so, im going to de-rust and re-paint the frame, footpegs, and wheel hubs. I will also make a graphic kit to replace the old one which is really worn out.

here is my bike as it is right now

and this is what i have designed so far

of course its obvious that the current husky graphic design was my inspiration. I love the new husky look and the colours.

but I want to paint the frame in that fluorescent yellow/green they used for the 701 concept

I would really apretiate opinions and recommendations about the design, materials, etc. for example whats the best way to paint the frame or the best material to print the graphic. If you have any experience in restoration please please share that experience.

    sorry about my english...

Powder coating the frame would be best.

Is that a 2002 model year? Chassis seems to be, but the seat, tank and plastics seem to be the newer 2006 and up design. Did you swap it out, if so was any modification required? Especially the tank mounts and the rad covers.

Your new colour scheme looks good, refreshing.

no I didn't modified it, the guy who sold me the bike did, but he said he didn't had to modify anything. When the mecanic takes them apart I'll tell you if its modified or not.

yeah I know poder coating would be the best but there are no powder coating services where I live so I was thinking maybe white automotive paint as base then neon yellow spray cans (its the only paint I can get here in that color) and then automotive clear coat

My 2002 with 06 tank has the tank mount post moved. That's all that's necessary, everything else lines up.

Painting the frame with a rattle can will work, prep the frame very well, best to sandblast if possable. The green looks slick, what about a black swingarm?Good-luck with your resto, please post pics when its done.

    joc,
The engine needs some color -- while it is out of the frame is a good time to paint the head. Red or yellow or blue!
The new Huskys have yellow heads.

Oh, and nickel plate the pipe. That would look cool.

My plan is to sand blast the frame, then apply a layer of primer, then the fluo/yellow and then a high temperature ressitant clear coat, vht or duplicolor, ive heard theyre good and ressistant to oils and gasoline.

This guy painted his calipers using that method
