Anyone have some tips for flushing radiators? The xc500 I purchased has alot of crud in the radiators. Do you think distilled vinegar will get rid of some of the gunk? I also need to pull the water pump cover and check it out (I believe it is magnesium)

Pull off both Radiator hoses & reverse flush it with a garden hose & yes i'd pull off the water pump cover
    which is magnesium.

The water pump impeller has a way of drifting out and wearing against it's surroundings decreasing it's effective thickness. It rides on two small bearings. If I recall correctly one of the bearings is open and the other has a seal on one side. Those are common bearings found in the small wheels in the chain guide, the brake pedal, the wheels on my 5 hp lawn mower and lots of stuff I don't know. It wouldn't be a bad idea to replace those it is the only thing I could think up to keep the impeller from shortening itself. If one of those bearings is sealed and runs on grease it ought to get re packed, I just don't recall beyond that I bought them both from Halls for the last project. They probably would be less from the lawn mower place if you are a penny pincher.

Once you get everything cleaned up use one bottle of Redline water wetter to one gallon of distilled water as this will keep your cooling system clean and efficient.
