Here is a pretty good video of a local race that was a test for man and machine. It poured the rain for days and people had to have their cars and trucks towed in and out of the track. The video is kind of long but it shows a little of all the classes. Let it download then fast forward to about 31:30 and watch the show. http://extremedirtseries.com/cgi/videos/videos.pl?show=14 (Bad Thad didnt do so well)
Man that looks like a good time. I wondered what would ever happen to the mud fleas once Blackwater was gone. Are all the races considered to be extreme terrain? I am looking into the Charleston race is why I ask.
They had offspring and produced mud flea jrs. The race promoter tries to make the track easy enough for all the racers from pro to beginner. But they usually have a couple of obstacles for the brave to make up time on what they call pro hill which is shown or a creek jump, just different obstacles throughout the track. There is always a easy way around but it takes more time. That being said, I wouldnt call any of the races extreme unless it rains for a week before or maybe snows like it did the first race in 2008. If you look at some of the lap times they are usually not that long, just a lot of them. The Charleston race is on video just under the cutler race, it was called the capitol city kickoff. If you decide to go I'm sure you will have a blast and meet some interesting people. See ya there, Dave
