I wasn't planning on racing much MX in my life, but since the series is stopping just up the road from me I considered it. Then I found out that there's a DKOT (district king of the track) for us non triple clearing desert guys, and thought, that's not so bad. Then I found out that entries in this class will have a portion set aside to help out Kim Carpenter of Rescue 3. She recently lost her Husband to Illness and tragically her son passed a couple of weeks later. If you race desert, you know Kim, and if you are a Zip Ty customer, she's also the nice lady who answers the phone and takes care of us customers. If you wanna come out and bang bars this is a great reason. If you don't want to race, check the D37 competition calendar and come watch. http://www.district37ama.org/offroad/calendar.html There will be a donation jar at sign up to help her out. This being my first full year of desert racing, I've found a lot of great things. It's a big fun family that gives back. I feel it's just the right thing for me to do and wanted to share with my fellow "Cafe Racers" who surely feel the same as I do.
You planning on doing the MX races in August? One of the races is @ Glen Helen - that's an awesome place to race/ride.
I'll be out of town, but I do like Glen Helen. Snagged third in my class on a borrowed bike at the 2 stroke nationals that I just bought Saturday. That was my test ride I guess.
