Blah Blah Blah That is the connector pipe. It needs cleaning and finish work. I forgot how to weld. It was over 10 years, and the stupid Miller just didn't have the power. That and my lens was too dark. Well you get the idea anyway. I took a set of headers from a big block and used the bends for the pipe. I figured once I had one fit up and all clearances good, I would see how much to have it made in stainless and mandrel bent. While those other pipes are the first out there for the 2 to 1 conversion, I don't like the welds in those pipes for the money. I will probably use header wrap to keep the heat going out the back. The can is a stock can from a 700 raptor (quad). Some slight mods to the inlet and some mods to the baffle, which I have to complete soon. The outlet of the baffle was a 1/2 id and just did not look like it would flow very well. The Raptor is a 700cc single cylinder motor with EFI. The pipe is slightly larger than the TR's. You can see an after market spark arrestor sitting on the can. That slips right into the pipe where the stock baffle goes. Very loud by itself. Forestry approved. (wish I had thought of the sink strainer) The can weighs about 7 lbs, where as a nice carbon fiber one may only be about 4. Next version, should I pursue it, will be in stainless. Notice the inlet is on the bottom of the can on this. I will see about finishing it up this week and move on to the air box.
It's not much, but a start. I used my old camera, and had to figure youtube out. Been years since I logged in, probably since google took it over.
Still need to do a couple more things to button it up, but I did take it for a run. Seem to have a little more power, but hard to tell really. It sounds different, and I don't peg the tach either. Main thing is it is lighter, and that is noticeable. Well either that or I got alot stronger. I'll most likely make a different heat sheald. I do not like the plastic one, and that does not fit right anymore.
Just got back from the dyno test. Not impressed. 45 HP, 35 torq. The thing runs fat on the top end, and lean on the low end. They say I can get an extra 5 hp if the top is leaned out. One thing, the pipe does that makes this thing much more enjoyable is when I let off the throttle I no longer get launched over the bars, first to second now shifts much smoother. It even seems quieter at speed, and less heat off the head pipe. Over all tickled to death over this pipe. Now I need to send the dyno results and my ecu off to get programmed with new maps.
No stock run. there should be some out there. There were some comparison charts here at CH, and they look pretty good compared to mine. It may be due to altitude.
