Not sure if this has been posted or not, but e-mailed Tom Claerhout with DC Plastics this morning and asked him about side covers for my '96 250 wxc and he said they are about a month away from having them for the '98s which I believe are the same back to '95, so that should help us out on these year models.

Just too bad it's DC Plastics. They are 0 for 2 with me. Two orders were both wrinkled, crooked and had misaligned divots for the mounting holes. I was astonished at the lack of QC.

I returned both of my orders! It feels and looks like the same material that Trash Cans are made from!

DC plastics uses vacuum molding instead of injection molding like the OEM's use. Consequently none of the corners or edges are as sharp or crisp as what you will see on OEM plastic.

The first was a front fender I ordered for a 74 Penton Harescrambler. The front lip of the Harscrambler fender is supposed to have a flare. On the DC fender the Flare was extremely crooked, angling from left to right. The back edge of the fender was on an angle as well. The surface also had noticeable wrinkles on it as well. I was pressed for time prepping for a race and used the fender despite my dissatisfaction with it's quality.

The second was a side panel for an 80 YZ465. The surface had similar wrinkles and the detents for the mounting holes weren't even close the the actual mounting position. It just had an odd curve to it as well. I remember thinking to myself that it looked like something a kid made out of playdoh instead of a product made by a professional. I tossed it in the trash, blaming myself for not learning my lesson with DC Plastics the first time. I later located a used factory side panel for the YZ.

thanks for the the info. my bikes are riders and im not always looking for certain "perfections" but things you have listed would certainly bother me as i am a bit of a perfectionist. its tempting because some of their stuff looks and fits ok and others looks really bad. also many thing they make is available no where else. any pics i have seen of the liquid cooled swede stuff is worrisome.

Here is a direct quote from the DC Plastics website on the Mounting page.

    • All of our parts are vacuum formed replicas. We make them as close to the factory OEM parts as possible. However, please do not expect the same sharp lines and perfect fitting pieces like the injection molded original parts. We are constantly updating molds and making parts fit better. If you have an issue with something fitting, please give us a call. We will do our best to help you get it to fit properly.
The part I bold texted and underlined is putting it mildly.

    Lots and always changing
While the plastic parts they make aren't shiny and smooth and can leave a bit to be desired with mounting sometimes. I am grateful that they do make those impossible to get plastic pieces to keep us riding. I have bought lots of parts from them for my vintage bikes over the years and there prices are good and they are great to deal with. I have always gotten great customer service and very quick shipping with very reasonable or free shipping.

I got the rear fender a 94 wxe and it fit pretty good found it a bit flimsy with the tail light though.... Now I'm need of the rad shrouds and the shipping to canada is pretty high so doing my research on them. Has anyone gotten theses shrouds with good luck for fit or know of any other option or even have a good set they would part with?
    Thanks Mike
