Decompressor Good night, I'm from Brazil - IomerĂª / SC I'm using google translate I made an electric start for my WR360 / 2002, but the starter got weak. So I need to make a decompressor on the cylinder, just like the KTM 300 that has a hole just above the exhaust window Needed more information, such as the diameter of the hole and the height from the window inside the cylinder. my electric start cylinder KTM 300 Tranks
The later KTM 360 had a decompression hole-'97 I think. Do some research of the KTM 360. Excellent job with the electric start! In the vintage /left kick forum there have been threads on decompression buttons. Do a search there too. Good luck!
R@d made a decompressor head for the 360 using a vacuum operated victa mower part, try vintage section to get ideas but you can probably fabricate a port through the cylinder head to accommodate, the vacuum signal came from the manifold.
Wow, I just saw this. That's amazing. I think if you would have put WR300 Electric start in the title, there might be a lot more hits. Did you make your own casting? What starter does that use? The starter does appear to be in a vulnerable area, though. As far as a decompression modification, it might be easier to do what is done in this thread. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/decompressor-kit-for-project-02-cr300.85739/
Electric start I need a few. On the engine is that a one direction clutch so once it starts it lets the crank turn freely? I wanted to use a starter/generator on a 2t for a street/ dirt road bike. On eBay there are chain saw compression releases they use them on Harley's. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...eases.TRS0&_nkw=compression releases&_sacat=0
Larry Weichman is the man to see about decomp valve on head..he did my project '02 HuskyCR300...just like kicking a 125 ..easy!email at weichman@charter.net phone 815-623-8940
updating the post ... delayed because I already sold the bike 1 year ago I got a spare head and installed the chainsaw decompressor and made a piece to open the decompressor by the handlebars with a very small bicycle brake lever. The game was easier in all situations, something I recommend. the electric starter I discarded ... because I didn't think it was necessary anymore. The new owner is happy, the decompressor works well.
Thanks for getting back to us!! I still love the electric start Idea, or maybe a Bionic Foot and Ankle!!
yes, there is leg to start the bike ... weekend trails with many stops made it tiring for the skinny here !!
