Well my crew is on the move, (ISDE vet, 40A rider).
Will climb off and sell his 13 300XC-W Kato and onto a 2014 FE350 Husqvarna.
He was an east coast Husky enduro guy in the 80s and early 90s and is stoked with the new direction and the retro color color scheme!!

I may not be too far behind.

That is 1 less ktm buyer and one more Husky sold ... SP just might be ousted someday for starting this ...

I really wonder how the sales will compare to Husaberg. I'm really looking forward to future models to see how much the brands seperate and what other models come out. He made several references to the roots in sportbike racing too. Husky really may have a full line up someday of street and dirt so we never have to buy another brand again lol

hes had a few seshs with both of my 310s and wants to go 4t again, he rides the 300 2t in the upper rpm range all the time.......that thing is great but if you scream it ...its just nuts. wants 4t power again (he had a Husaberg 570 that went faster than I could imagine in some of our ugly/fun stuff)

No...but thought Robert might want to race... and I was curious about the 2014 program, and how they are going to address the differences in the bikes in contingency (red vs white).

SP is going to get ousted for selling more motorcycles? The same owners hold both companies, I doubt they care what color the bikes going out the door are.

They might care, they could get stuck with tens of thousands of sets of orange plastic that nobody wants.

Robert always wants to race (for fun only), never for any chance of real glory, always too slow and now way too old!!
IDK does KTM have contingency race pay plan? No matter. Whatever I end up riding its going to a race anyway, that little added bonus is nice though for sure.

One thing certainly is for sure and I would think most of the guys riding orange would agree. The KTM/Husqvarna simply looks better! Has linkage and a composite subframe. Equal a no brainer for me! Yes those RETRO colors got it going on. Just give em the blue wheels and BINGO!

What happened yrs back when ktm went under? I read once where they came up short selling 10s of thousands of bikes from the previous yrs sales numbers and this was the beginning of the end for the original company ...

    --
I don't think this is gonna be as cut&dried as everyone thinks ... One Example:

"Hey you wanna buy a 9,000$ ktm? There is a copy of it sitting right there with different plastics for 8,000$ called a Husky". Now which bike you wanna buy again? This may be another small reason why they do not want the bikes sold at the same dealers. And different supply channels .. Sort of a hedge against disaster...

    --
He's gonna try and govern all these sales between the 2 brands with prices and different models ... Has any company actually sold competing products that are so similar with success? All I can come up with is some car companys as an example ... Car people and bike people are not close to the same.

I'm sure these business guys think they they know what they doing, same as you or me ... You might have noticed that life ain't so easy to govern or predict on most days...

The only problem with your hypothetical is that the Huskies cost more than the KTMs do.

Yes they are said to be marketed as the "premium" off road brand now.

That high cost is his hammer to keep the bike sales number under-control maybe... Husky sales numbers are unknown at this time ... And there are 100,000 buyers on previous ktms that are gonna buy another bike ...

Maybe all future sales will be with 100% new customers and the 100,000 ktm buyers stay 100% in place ... That ain't gonna happen and there is gonna be bleed over from orange to white ... That bleeding will be controlled to some degree with price ... Then over time, as the true sales numbers will come forth on the brands, the pricing can be adjusted as needed to keep total sales numbers as the company VPs want them to be. Funny huh?

    --
This has nothing to do with sales to the 3rd world countries sales, which are gonna play a big part in the next yrs ... That will be a cash cash cow cow to unknown levels.

Did your crew indicate a vague idea what the bike is going to cost him? The USA pricing has not been released as far as I know.

Not released yet but I thought a fore-gone conclusion that it is a 'premium brand' and gonna be priced on top... Funny again ... I forgot we do not know the actual price ...
