My 11 SMS630 has the thickwall bars. Of course the hardware for my new Zeta hanguards doesn't fit. Rather than drill out the bars I liked the idea of using threaded inserts. Of course there are no inserts to be easily found in my town so I made my own. I threaded the bar ends with a 1/2-13 tap, no drilling required. For inserts I used 1/2"-13 x 3/4" setscrews and drilled and tapped the inside to 5/16". The setscews have dimples in them which make for easy centering of the drill. If you do this use low grade setscrews and not grade 8 as in the pic, which makes for tough drilling and tapping. Cam.
