Do the 2014 terras even need the booster plug or moss tool kit used on them?

Theres a 2014 my local dealer has. He told me they sold 15 of them and over that time only 2 had bogging and idle issues but that was only on 2012 models. That he believes I wouldnt need it on the 2014. I was thinking of pulling trigger on this 2014 but wanted those two mods done before I even picked it up, Thats if its even needed though?

I have a 2014 I got in November. Only had 1 stumble first day, 20 miles on bike, still cold. No issues around 3000 rpm like earlier bikes. Just let it warm up good before taking off. the 2014's are supposed to be remapped.

I have a 2014 purchased in November and I had the stumble right out of the crate. My bike was also MOSS'd, I watched.

My bike was MOSS'd November last year after putting up with stalling issues for six months. It improved it signifigantly. Idle still a bit rough though.
I noticed afterwards was that engine braking was slightly reduced after rolling off the throttle. They probably remapped to inject a small amount of fuel during decel to stop popping/backfiring.

A warm hello to all Terra/Strada bikers from the Philippines :-)
I'm the first Terra owner in this beautiful country, received my bike direct from Italy in the first week of December 2013 and it has the stalling problem very often ( more than 50x) in my first 1200km-

Greetings and welcome to the Cafe. Some reading for you; plenty of discussion on this issue -

As a minimum take it back to your dealer and have them connect the MOSS diagnostic tool to perform any updates. I found it helped mine a lot.

I had my bike Mossed and was better, but didn't completely eliminate the stalling or rough idle. Went for a Booster Plug and not a single issue since. Booster Plug is the most expensive spoof option, but I reckon the best $150 I've spent in a long time, which was BP delivered to my door. Sure, we shouldn't have to on a new bike, but saved all the hassles and took 15 minutes to install and I'm no mechanic, but found install very easy. Best of luck with whatever option you take.

I would suggest the route described in the link below. Cheap, effective, completely reversable. I bought an extra intake temp sensor off Ebay which was around $20, I also ordered the resistors from one of the suggested sites in the thread. To avoid damaging the sensitive componets I let a pro handle the soidering, if you are weary at all of doing the mod on your own send the parts to Dan, he did an excelent job on mine. Here is how to contact him.

Just a nit here, but I don't believe there was ever a 2012 model. It was introduced as a 2013 and any not sold in that year were redesginated 2014. Only those two model years.

That all said, the surgey thing wouldn't be a deal breaker for me. Mine is better from a booster plug, but not perfect...as I noted in one of those many, many linked threads on the subject.

The TR650 only exist as a 2013 model, production ended some month ago.

    Only formally.

In fact the bike was produced in late 2012 and 2013. Yet, all 2012 produced bikes are marked 2013, and late 2013 bikes are marked 2014. Technically-wise, they're all identical. Corporate marketing only.

When Husqvarna was sold by BMW, the new owners decided to move production from Italy to Austria. For the first few months of 2013 they built and warehoused enough motorcycles to supply demand until Austrian production could begin. The Italian factory closed in May 2013. All TR650s were built before that.

Thanks for your welcome and the links, went through all the posts in the meantime and I definitively will do some EFI tuning.
Best option seams the PCV with Autotune, also in regard of slipping over some philippine custom made mufflers.
The MOSS is not ready at my dealer in Manila, they promised for the end of January...
Did the CANISTER surgery 3 days ago and at the same time an ECU/EFI reset (disconnected Battery for 1 hour and idle on first engine-start till fan starts), that helped a lot. Engine is still rough at low rev but stalling almost disappeared.

You're absolutely right, my Terra arrived direct from Italy in December 2013 (6 weeks on the ship) and its manufacturing date is 02/2013, at least that's what the sticker behind the Headlight says. The production of the bike stopped in the first half of 2013.

The Eruption will most likely fix the stalling problem. The Eruption, Booster Plug & The Juice all are basically the same as far as what the ECU sees as a spoof with one exception...all these target a 6% fuel enrichment but The Eruption hits the target where the others deviate from it in temperature extremes. I hope I saved you some reading. :)

If you got the dough a PCV w/ AT is the best option available.

Just buy one while you can FireCrotch. As someone said earlier, if you can get one new or in decent shape for $6000 it's a no brainer. I am a fan of the ABS model. Slapped a 21/18 combo on it and it's darn near perfect now.
