Some idiots over at advrider.com were telling me that the cam chain can be good for up to 80k miles and were having a go at me for replacing it. As everyone knows the common wisdom on this forum and others (and the service manual says 12.5k miles) is that the cam chain must be changed approximately every 10k miles or it will snap. Here is the thread: http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/cam-chain-tensioner-help.1117439/ As you can see, the thread was originally about my cam chain tensioner. Notice how there are a select few idiots (once you get to about page three) that seem to go out of their way to drag my thread off topic and turn it into an argument without me reciprocating until one idiot over steps the mark and gets destroyed.
Nobody got destroyed, and you should be embarrassed with your childish behavior. Cam chains and riders are not created equal, I checked mine when I had to tear it down for another reason at 11k miles, it was still in spec, but I replaced it because I already had the spare.
Hes still here, why isnt he gone? Why do people insist on feeding the troll, his postings should get 0 replies.
I agree entirely. But- perhaps b/c it's Friday and I'm in a good mood- when I checked the site just now over lunch and saw his post, I burst out laughing...which I don't normally do. So thanks, for that.
Isn't it unfair that those people on advrider are giving me heat for replacing a cam chain when nearly every forum on the net says it needs replacing at 10k miles and Indy_Unlimited (an experienced Husky mechanic) specifically advised me to replace it? Anyone know why JohnCW got offended out of nowhere? Along with the others in their clique? Why does almost every website advise replacement at 10k? And is my tensioner one of the troublesome types? It is not the usual ratchet style.
