This engine differs from what Henry Ford was dropping in his models ... I haven't read and understood all this yet but looks like a home run .. http://rideapart.com/articles/duke-axial-motorcycle-engine
Here are the specifics on the 5 cylinder, 1000cc prototype: 67 x 56 Bore and Stroke (mm), 125 HP @ 7,500 RPM (max engine output speed) with 119 NM of torque. The engine weight is 86 pounds including ancillary parts- minus the starter-generator. The bare engine dimensions are diminutive-16.69 L x 9.52 W x 9.52 H (inches).
Its a lot in common with design functionality of a motor driven aircraft multi piston hydraulic pump.
I like it. Wonder how long before we see them in a vehicle of some kind. Would be an awesome engine for home built experimental aircraft!
This article or another one on that site made mention of the wankel engine and that it had certain issues that never got solved ... Might be some effects yet to be told on this device ... Looks like it could possibility make everyone re-think their products and sports to go along with this design instead of the engine we run now ...
