Just a heads up to anyone who is/will race the ECEA series. If you want to be considered in year end points, make sure you either pay the "no club fee" at the beginning of the year or join a club. When I joined the ECEA and picked my race number at my first race of the year, it was not made clear to me that my points would not count at the end of the year unless I took one of the two aforementioned steps. I ended up 8th in my class this year and a guy who was in 11th place now gets my 8th (2 others had not paid "no club fee" either). I have spoken with Merle Compton about this issue and she said she'll talk to other ECEA members about ensuring people understand this rule. Im not talking down the ECEA by any means. They do a great job! Its a simple oversight that could have been avoided at a very low $ cost to me but, oh well. Live and learn. Here's looking to next year and joining a club!
Sorry to hear that. I'm an ECEA member and Club member, but ride enduros. My Club is Ithaca Dirt Riders and only runs an ECEA enduro, not an ECEA HS. I'm surprised that it wasn't more clear, when you joined the series. They need to make it more obvious on the application then. I don't ride the ECEA HS series, but I was quite aware of the rule on the ECEA Forum.
It was all new to me when I showed up at the Valley Forge Trail Rider HS near Shamokin, PA. I joined up there, on the spot. That was an awesome race btw. Great course. My first race season and first real race and got 3rd in my class. I was stoked. I dont want to bad mouth anyone in the ECEA. Thats not why Im writing this. Just to let guys out there know they need to join a club or pay the no club fee. I am excited to join a club next year and hopefully do better in results too haha.
That has always been the case in the ECEA, no club, no year end points.. The "No Club Fee" was new this year to allow those not in a club to participate in the year end fun... The rules for decades stated "Rider must belong to an ECEA club to earn championship points". and was amended in the 2013 rule book to "A Rider must belong to an ECEA club to earn year-end championship points and awards or pay a set annual fee for ECEA membership in lieu of club membership" Welcome to the ECEA and which ever club you joined, I have been a SJER member for 25 years and as they say, membership has it's rewards !
Yes, as I stated, this is my first year racing, not my eleventh. I will be joining a club. I now know the deal. I simply started this thread so nobody else makes the mistake I did. Thanks.
I tried to pay the noclub fee at the beginning of the season, and eventually was told I didn't need to because I was a C-rider. Too bad you can't use the noclub fee I didn't need, Kurt.
