    test battery

Check fuses, should be right around the battery

Suspect it is battery but could be loose stator wire so no charging. Could pull cover and check that too.

check the fuses under right side cover ,battery leads and right handlebar switch wires behind the headlight.Test light or swap new fuses these little fuses sometimes look good to the eye but are burned off on the end.billf

If you have a voltmeter measure the battery voltage at the battery and between the one of the fuses and the frame during cranking. How does it when cranking?

Same thing happened to my buddy. He had the Uni Batt in his. Swapped out for Yuasa and the bike fired right up and has ran perfect ever since.

Okay thanks for all the replys guys..
Voltmeter showing low volts on batt 9volts when cranking or trying it zapps the volts, screen dies and nothing.. like its shorting out...
Have checked all connections and fuses.. battery is on charge
Service Bulletin issued 21-10-09 posted in another posts tells dealers to that my battery should be replaced with the yusa YTz7S for product improvments.. . my bike was purchased on 1st of Jan 2010.. would like to think that any service bulletins would have been carried out it in the preparation before handing it over to me...

Should the bike not run with out the battery once it starts though?? surely there is a magneto to charge the battery power the electronics / fuel injection.???

    thanks

update.. it appears the batt will not charge off the bike with car charger . i cannot get it over 11.86 volts...
i just plugged into the bike my 11.1volt model aircraft li po batt.. the bike turned over not at full speed (only 11.1v batt half charged) but it had life.. i didint' turn it enough to try and start it due to the cranking current would probo melt my tiny leads to my small batt..

going to try and connect up a car batt and start it later..

Yes, the stator will run the electricals once the bike has started but I think a bad battery can still mess with the bike actually running especially at low rpms. Maybe the dealer chose to deal with complaints rather than be pre-emptive and/or maybe he needed to order some batteries for this service. A good battery seems to solve what seems like a lot of little problems. I saw my dealer working on a bike that had that battery and when he changed it ...voila...ran fine.

    RESOLVED..
    connected up car battery..
bike dash all fine, bike starts and runs perfect..
Voltage with bike off 12.86 across the terminals
Voltage with bike running 14.56 across the terminals..

The unibat is the problem.. it shows 12.36 volts but any load applied across the terminals shorts the volts to around 6 or 7..

Looks like all this could have been avoided had the service bulletin battery replacement been carried out. I wasn't angry yesterday when pushing my bike for 1 mile back to my truck, as things break, but im B@@dy annoyed now when the work should have been carried out pre delivery.

on the positive... i was having the best ride ever on my bike having just had a complete revalve, and suspension set up by DR Shox... the difference is amazing... turning- jumping, braking... i was starting to feel real confidence in the handling..cant wait to get out some more... best money i ever spent that..

hey coffee perhaps you could revise the title remove the ???? replace with RESOLVED for easy reference for any one searching this forum?
