Happily Moto GC in Melbourne will send away the ECU for a reflash but I need to get it to them.
Is there anything to look out for when taking the unit out and I know this is dumb but it is the big aluminum looking thing under the seat isnt it?
    thanks for help

UNHOOK THE BATTERY AND REMOVE BATTERY FIRST.

Way to easy to short the ecu out with a wrench that slips. Then pull the bolts that hold it in, and then remove the rectangular plug. Put in an anti static bag like for a hard drive.

I posted up the dealer instructions in the usa recall topic. Go there and mark your ecu as they describe, the best you can.

Use the whiteish lever to get the plug out. It can take a little wiggling. Don't force it, it will come out relatively easy.

You could use a sharpie and mark the ECU with the last digits of your VIN to help keep track of it.

Sending the BMS-E down to Melbourne may not be such a good idea, unless you have the ability to do an adaption reset/rebuild when refitting it and the more problematic the machine was prior to the update the more important the adaption reset/rebuild will be on refitting it

Rickyme your profile says you're in Sydney. Like WayneC said.. Sending the ECU off to Italy to get reflashed is only half of the solution, and it's the easy half. When the ECU is returned MotoGC need to have the rest of your bike there to complete the recall. If the bike is in Sydney you really need to find a solution in Sydney. Why can't you get it done up there ?

Yes have just found a helpful sounding dealer up here, they are checking out the procedure. However on the phone i was told I would just pull it out and send it off.
Difficult to trust dealer in Sydney, they dont want anything to do with old huskys
