Anyone good with the 449 efi? My bike is running extremely hot on the exhaust side. Previous owner says bike has the "race map 3". Anyway to confirm, or does this simply reside in the software?

O2 is plugged in still, does that give anyone an idea?

Does the heat suggest it is still in stock map that is lean for emission standards?

Sounds like it is lean to me and this suggests original map. On my bike the speedo unit indicates "map 2".
Do you have the original muffler/pipe or does it have an akro?

Sorry to exclude pertinent details. Has trail tech voyager so it does not display the map. Has fmf silencer.

Are you at least running RaceMap 2? You don't need software to do that. Just a paperclip to close the loop. You will actually see RaceMap II on the dash.

you should be able to run all day with a functioning cooling system. Are you sure it's excessively hot (meaning: fan is on at speed, almost 100% of the time; radiator releasing pressure/coolant)? your description in your other thread sounds normal.

(btw, keep the threads focused; it's a drag to jump around to parallel threads on the same subject)

The exhaust header (especially around the first couple of bends) will be 500° HOTTER than the motor itself.

I see the previous owner put an FMF on (q4 I'm guessing) and wrapped the header... I doubt that you're running excessively hot- so maybe add another pipe guard. does the pipe glow in the dark (and I mean really, really glow- like past the wrap)?

    good luck.

Never boiled over coolant. Fan comes on when in first in woods on hot days...normal?

When I used to ride with my buddies in slow technical stuff my fan always cuts on before everyone elses. I also feel a ton of heat coming from the pipe and engine. I know Im not running lean so I would say it's normal. These bikes from what I have read just run hot.
