EFI Tuning with stock or gutted stock exhaust???

Has anyone done it tuning with a JD kit/power commander/ibeat etc, but left their exhaust stock or just gutted the cats and baffles on the stock exhaust?

I would expect the most gains to be seen by using aftermarket exhaust parts with EFI tuning. Just interested to see if anyone has done EFI mods with aftermarket pipes and/or cans. There are a lot of posts where people put a leo or other pipe on and see some gains, but really like the set up once they put a JD kit on the bike and richen things up.

I'm half temped to buy a JD kit and then gut the stock cans to see what that feels like. Anybody done this already?

I have both a set of gutted stock cans and Leo slipons. They ended up feeling identical to me. I like the looks of the Leos, and I like the sound of the Leos with the optional db killer inserts. So, those are on the bike.

The big change...the JD tuner. Wow. HUGE difference. Best $200 you can spend on this bike.

So, if I had it to do over again, I'd not spend the money on the Leos. I'd gut the stock cans (see CJ Brown's post on here for how-to), and put on the JD tuner.

That is exactly what I was thinking of doing. JD and can gut. Probably will be a winter project since riding season is slipping away. Awesome feedback...Thanks!

The best money spent so far was def the PU kit and after that the JD Power Surge. I'm still running with the stockers though.

Next mod will prolly be the gutted stock cans or a opened Akrapovic slip-on, which shouldn't be that much difference power-wise.
