Emig got their solution for TR. Albeit quite costly, the quality is superb as always in case of Emig. Check their page: http://www.emigracing.com/TR650.htm
The bars look to be at a level no higher than my two inch Rox Risers. If that is the case you don't need new cables. The clutch cable has to be relocated to the left side of the bike coming up next to the frame on the clutch side with lots of room to spare. The front brake line needs the anchor taken loose at the back of the headlight cowling and the bracket either relocated or discarded (it isn't really needed). The rest of the cables have ample room for moving the bars both up and back. I want a stabilizer bad but, not enough cash in the till for that particular rig.
That is very nice!……but seems extremely overpriced. I realize that BRP doesn't make this set up for the TR, but I have this set up for both of my TE's and it is exactly the same thing for a lot less money. A stabilizer on the TR is on my to do list this winter after I finish the 511 project. It's about time to add some more Motosportz bling! Be looking for a PM Kelly.
Mounting the stabilizer itself won't be a problem. But, the stabilizer tower will be an issue because the a clamp on would have to take into account the flange that is present for steering stops and locking the front end. If the TE mount does this perhaps it could be modded?
could you elaborate a little on how you routed it exactly (pics would be helpful)? If I route mine along the lhs of the front part of the frame, come out above the radiator between the triple clamps, the clutch cable inevitably gets pushed against the exhaust header when I turn the handle bars.
Sure here ya go At the top of the engine Routed between the hoses And around the crash bar. This keeps it off the header And at the bars. I routed from the last picture up and behind the radiator.
Charlie, I will be creating a weld on tower. The new tower will be formed so that it neither welds to the oil tank or the steering tube, but rather to the welds on both sides that connect them. I can generate enough heat to get good penetration and then a quick cool down at that junction without too much heat to cause damage.....….or burn my bike down. I may still drop a piece of dry ice in the oil tank just to be safe.
so if i got this rig, does this take place of the 2" Rox Riser setup i have? because that's the perfect amount of rise for me. also, do you think this would help with the dreaded steering wobble at 75mph, or not so much? thanks.
oh gosh, does that mean i asked a really stupid question? i could very well have asked a really stupid question lol...
Yes, your Rox risers will be replaced with the provided 1" riser from Emig. I think a stabilizer will help with a death wobble, but not a casual wobble. I hope someone with more stabilizer experience chimes in on that one. Up to this point I have only used them on my dirt bikes. I think Hansi is just excited to find another solution for mounting up a stabilizer, so no need to feel stupid.
For our purposes the stabilizer will be more useful at trail or gravel road riding speeds. The stabilizer will keep you from oversteering when hitting big rocks, roots and ruts. On the high speed end it's not going to stop a tank slapper but should negate some of the head shake. If you have head shake there are many factors that combine to cause it. Not the least of which is the geometry of the bike, the load on the bike, the speed the bike is traveling, road surface, winds...yada, yada, yada.
