I haven't heard running or seen another Terra/ Strada except for mine. Seen a few videos on you tube but its hard hear the engine. I know its a thumper and big singles arnt known as the smoothest or quietest engines in the world.

Question is; does every other Terra's engine sound like an old diesel truck running lol. When idol mine knocks and clicks. Makes me think something is wrong.

At low rpm driving it makes a pretty good knocking noise (below 2.5k rpm) above 3K noise starts to go away. Engine is very happy at or above 4000.

I do have a Ricochet plate but it dosent matter if I take it off or leave it on....only difference it makes is how loud the knocking noise is.

Ya mine like it over 3K for sure. A bit noisy under that while riding. But does not knock or click while idling. What fuel are you running?

I think there is some loudness to the engine, it is 12:1 compression. At higher rpms, there is more float and that would quiet it down. My New BMW R100GS sounded pretty loud also. My Terra has what could be construed as top end noise. If it is abnormally loud, well get it to the dealer pronto.

Use supreme fuel, 91 octane. Currently spraying my plate with rubber under coat, might help.

I'm in the same boat, Richochet bash plate and it sounds like a bucket of bolts below 3 grand
This really doesn't bother me at all because it is soooo smooth once the revs get up to the happy spot!

A common misunderstanding due to different methods of measuring the octane rating of fuel.

    Difference between RON and AKI[edit]

Because of the 8 to 10 point difference noted above, the octane rating shown in Canada and the United States is 4 to 5 points lower than the rating shown elsewhere in the world for the same fuel. See the table in the following section for a comparison.

    Ok.........

I'm reasonably sure that matches my bike and the several other TR650s I rode. Mine especially makes that sound going up a steep hill at those rpms.
