G'day all from sunny Darwin. I was riding home from work yesterday, giving the bike a bit of stick, when something went wrong. I was hitting about 6500-7000 in third gear when the engine sort of misfired/lost power for a second and the engine light came on instantly.

It stayed on for about 15 seconds, then disappeared and the bike went on running as per normal. I tried revving it etc when I got home, but it seems to be running ok now.

Should I be worried? Has anyone else had something similar happen to them?

    Cheers for any replies, Scott.

Yes, take the ball bearing out from the fuel fill area (pressure release). HighFive did a write up on Adv. If problem continues, then the spark plugs might be to blame. I did both when it happened to me so I not sure exactly which action did the trick.

Cheers mate. I don't think it will be the plugs, as I put Brisks in about 2000kms ago. I do remember something about that ball bearing now.

Mine did the same thing. It was the check valve in the fuel cap. Remove it and that will likely stop the problem from reoccurring. You will find the how to" in the "Miscellaneous" section labeled "Fuel Check Valve Fix". Check the fix HERE Posts 1695 and 1698.
