• Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

EXTRA Key

Just heard back about a spare key $65, provide life story, and takes 3-6 weeks to get as it's coded to your bike....HOLLY crap....I thought it was a drag to keys for my Duc............

Didn't you get 2 with the bike? How many keys do ya need? The cost of one key is more than all the front fender plastics and hardware to turn my Strada into a Terra Twin. Yikes!

Remember, the key is chipped - my last BMW key was almost $80! I am always paranoid of losing/breaking a key far from the spare, so I took the chipped key and had a non-chipped duplicate made which will open the seat:
- chipped spare goes under the seat, non-chipped gets carried or hidden on the bike to get access to the "real" spare.

Cheapest solution I could think of to ensure a reliable spare.....

That's a dang good idea!

My 13 Silverado key blank cost$30 at walmart, so your price is not too bad considering its a european motorcycle! In my opinion.

Honda keys for their bikes with engine immobilizer are in the same price range. Last one I bought cost me $AU65 about 7 yrs ago. That would probably be a $US40 comparison. I am pretty sure that if you want to get a new key cut, the bike has to be MOSS connected to program it into the ignition system. I think up to 10 keys can be remembered by the ECU at any time. The MOSS is also required to remove any keys which have been lost etc. It's a good idea to remember if you're ever taking the bike to the dealer for any work which may require the immobilizer system to be changed, that might include and EWS errors or any replacement of parts in the immobilizer, to take both keys with you and leave them with the dealer, particularly if you travel some way to the shop. Might save you a long trip to deliver a key.
