  • Hi everyone,

As you all know, Coffee (Dean) passed away a couple of years ago. I am Dean's ex-wife's husband and happen to have spent my career in tech. Over the years, I occasionally helped Dean with various tech issues.

When he passed, I worked with his kids to gather the necessary credentials to keep this site running. Since then (and for however long they worked with Coffee), Woodschick and Dirtdame have been maintaining the site and covering the costs. Without their hard work and financial support, CafeHusky would have been lost.

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve been working to migrate the site to a free cloud compute instance so that Woodschick and Dirtdame no longer have to fund it. At the same time, I’ve updated the site to a current version of XenForo (the discussion software it runs on). The previous version was outdated and no longer supported.

Unfortunately, the new software version doesn’t support importing the old site’s styles, so for now, you’ll see the XenForo default style. This may change over time.

Coffee didn’t document the work he did on the site, so I’ve been digging through the old setup to understand how everything was running. There may still be things I’ve missed. One known issue is that email functionality is not yet working on the new site, but I hope to resolve this over time.

Thanks for your patience and support!

EZ and quick reset of the EFI and TPS on a 511/449 (good info here)

thanks to BMWAtlanta for this info...

I was starting to notice a flame out now and then and not running perfect.

On the new 449/511 you can reset the TPS and "adaptive settings" of the EFI controllers manually.

If you have a stumble or flame out, disconnect the bat for about a minute, hook it back up, turn the key on, slowly turn the throttle to full stop and back, turn the key off, turn it back on and start the bike without touching the throttle. Mine idled higher afterwards, ran perfect again and all is GREAT.

I did this on the trail the other day, took about 2 minutes and made the bike run perfect again.

Great tip, thanks Bobby for the info.

this procedure on non keyed ignition machines must be possible without the need for the dealer, just skip the 3rd step? No couldn't be that simple. :(

Why would they ship a street legal bike without a key? That's asking for it to be stolen...

Will this work for the Italian FI motors?

TPS Quick Reset
- Fully Warm Motorcycle
- Disconnect the battery for approx 2 minute, then hook it back up again.
- Turn the ignition key on.
- Turn the throttle to full stop and then back again.
- Turn the ignition key off, wait 5 seconds, and then turn it back on again.
- Start the bike without touching the throttle.

TE511 Air Bypass EFI Adjustment
- This is the big brass screw high up on the side of the EFI body
- 2 ¼ turns out for a TE511 (+/- 1/8th of a turn) should put the minimum air bypass back in range.
- It is the only screw on the throttle body that should, or can, be touched without major drama.
- If the screw is too far out it will push you into a corner like having the throttle open a bit.

I will be surprised if these 2 procedures do not help. Do the TPS reset twice to be sure.

Also, just a thought but take the EFI cable cover off the side of the EFI main body and check if all the cable adjusting screws are tight and that the cables wind around the cam correctly through its full range of movement. While you are there you might as well check for the correct cable backlash/freeplay. There is a section in the owners manual that touches on this.

Good Luck and let me know how you get on.

TXC's don't have key'd ignitions cause they aren't street legal- and I have not seen a report of how to reset the TPS on those yet- the question has been asked though... hopefully a dealer or someone with insight can share this information.

ok back to my issue, 1st my 2011 txc449 is street legal and i have installed a deadman switch to keep those who would try to steal my bike from doing so.
i will check those two wiring harnness connections to see if water has gotten into them, the reset thing is interesting if it could work on my scoot. i'm installing a jd tuner on it this weekend, so we'll see.
thanks for the help , guys

Husqvarna removed the key ignition switches from its 2012 TE line due to a communication signal error in the computer, odometer, and ignition loop. The ignition key can be installed on a 2012 TE as a starter and ignition disconnect, but must be manually wired into the harness due to the 2011-2012 harnesses being completely different.

For the TPS quick reset on a 2012 non-ignition model, try barely pushing the starter button. This turns on the computer and efi fuel pump, but does not fire the starter. This is supposed to be similar to turning the ignition switch on a 2011 model.

i`m going to try this as soon as i get home.. just one question. does this apply if you allready have the JD tuner?.. doing it anyway. just asking..
