Hi all Im still loving the Terra and living with its quirks. The button switch to change readout from odometer to fuel used etc has failed. Ive had the speedo apart to dry it after the dreaded EWS issue and wonder it its an easy fix to replace the switch. My first thought was to send it to an instrument repairer but its my daily ride which obviously wont run without the speedo and I need it to get to work. Im also running a plastic bag over the unit as Im shit scared of getting it wet so waterproofing advice would also be great

Sadly, the above links do NOT come to a final+ happy conclusion...I'm still hoping to be able to find a damaged/ busted/ cracked unit off a TR/Nuda that I can finally get to try a few ideas on for a proper, re-producible fix that lasts, does the job neatly, is fairly cheap and not too technical and allows the use of an external switch (like re-wiring the totally underused flasher-switch in the left switchblock). I'm just too scared to fiddle with my own (still good) unit, due to the near-impossible replacement situation. I know it won't last, but it does for now. Another local TR-owner's S-button broke on a little Sunday ride yesterday. AFAIK, Greg is the only one who ever rigged an external switch successfully and still got it working years later.
The post linked below is one I posted for the button fix about a year ago. http://www.cafehusky.com/threads/dash-repair.43926/page-2#post-577477 I pushed it 200 times or so to test the fatiguing of the wire as soon as I did it. It seemed fine, so I put it in service and it's survived a season so far.
My flasher is buggered and the unit got water in it a while ago and the lights all went crazy shorting out.the bike wouldnt go for a couple of weeks till it dried out and now the backlight flickers . I dont trust the EWS set up with this dash so Ive ordered a new one.
