I have just over 11,000 km on my 08 TE 610.

I was riding in the bush and and I felt a change in the engine and more top end noise. I brought the Bike into the shop. After checking the cam chain tension and valve clearance, they found that one of the Needle Bearings had failed. It was sunken into the Rocker Arm and the Cam had a worn spot because of this.

The head was swapped but the worn Cam was put back in. The top end still makes noise, but not as bad. I was told that I can still ride the bike, and that I should get the Cam replaced or work done to it, but it will do no damage to ride the Bike. I was also told that I could have performance work done to the Cam and it would take out the worn spot.

I took the Bike home and parked it.

What I would like to know is, is it safe to ride the Bike. And can you just retool a Cam for higher performance without knowing the engine. I mean if the valves stay open too long, couldn't they hit the piston, etc??

    Thanks

    Rick

Without seeing the parts I would be hesitant to offer a recommendation as to weather or not it is advisable to ride. So far as the cam goes I would call Uptite to see what the progress is on there HP cam. These are a proven cam design that he used for years and he was going to reintroduce them but I think he needs to know if there is enough of a market to have a few ground. You can tell George that I'll buy one to.:D

The only worn part now is the Cam.
