Yep, I was surprised to say the least when I drove up to the track and saw what was there...anyway I've got another idea to give a Husky rider a 'chance to excel' as outlined below:

This race report is from the opening round of the largest racing series here for dirt bikes as far as I know ... These guy really love the racing and they like it even better with foreigners racing ... fast foreigners are the best of course and can get some sort of sponsor support from here on some level ...Not sure on what level but I can find out ...But there is some show money passed around ... But you gotta be fast ...How fast? Not really sure but one of the local racer guy was beating a 'International Team' rider from Denmark in the Pro Lites class ... It was a great race of about 15 laps ... Denmarks 450 rider was fastest guy there for sure .. I met their team owner and he was trying to sell the small 65cc Huskies there ... I nearly fell over when I saw someone else with a new Husky there ...

On the other hand, if you just wanna race these guys on a Husky as I'll be doing also on another Husky, we'll have a good time, maybe win a few pesos, and even ride the same class if you are old and slow :) ... We roll most of the jumps and do an occasional double depending on ... Starts are important here as passing is not always easy...

What I can offer is a free ride on any Husky of mine you wanna race ... Up to 3 days free practice time on the bike before the race if track is ready ... We'll deal in prize money here with a chop-chop of 50/50 ... Any trail riding before or after the race and we go back to normal rates ...

This series has 12 races and will last till October or longer I'd guess ... Be sure and notice the sign at the entry ... Its being billed as a SX series and the track did have 2 long rhythm sections and a triple on the end and several smaller sections with SX type doubles ... All tracks will be of this type this year ...

PM me if interested in doing any sx racing Filipino style on a Husky ...

I've been thinking of selling one of my cars, and buying a truck just like that. I wondered how the bikes would fit. Now I know

I got a friend here who can paint it so maybe by this summer I can have it painted red and white on top to hold down the heat ... Its kind of small and about 60kms is about as fast as I go in it .... You can go 3 bikes if needed ...

What are Danes names? We've had some Dane riders come through here in the past staying with with the Italian Team SX vacations crew for winter training. Wonder if it's the same guys.

Here's the write-up from a local paper on these riders ... The team owner said the weather is very cold back home and they have to get out of there and ride warmer places ... These races are really cool and it is a big event but everyone is so approachable at the event ... Everyone knows each other to some degree ... The guy announcing the race is a racer guy also I know and will for sure wanna interview you if you get too close ...

Foreign riders arrive for SRP race

    Thursday, January 17, 2013

DENMARK champion riders Nicolaj Larsen, Mathias Jorgensen and James Nielsen arrived in Cebu with high hopes of bringing home the first leg of Kopiko Astig 3 in One Supercross Series 2013 in SRP on Jan. 26 and 27.

Their presence is expected to take the first international motocross race in Cebu this year a notch higher.
“The Danish riders arrived Wednesday and they are ready to race. They are expecting a tough competition since the top riders in the country are also expected,” race director Edsel Odulio told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.

(Edsel is gonna help me advertise my dirt bike touring here at his next races :) ... I'm no star here but they see me alot at local races (and word travels quickly via the grapevine if you are a good or bad guy) and ~almost any foreigner here is welcomed and helped every day in many ways by these guys ... They all wanna see any foreigner race on any level against the locals :) )

Man and Machine Racing Promotions, the organizer of the event is working hard for the completion of the temporary race-track they are building in SRP.

“Basically, we are constructing an international standard race course, which covers one kilometer. This track is very technical, we have a lot of double and triple jumps and the table top will surely entertain the spectators,” Odulio said.

    ----

After Cebu, the series moves to Bais, Negros Oriental in February and will also be staged in Bacolod, Dumaguete, Dipolog, Tacloban, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Roxas City and Ormoc. --

This series is scattered across the islands and I hope to do at least a couple more races in the series ...The places in bold are well within my reach ... It'll give me good reason to go to another island and find more trails for my dirt bike touring and see some old friends when I arrive ...And I should at least get on the track and log some air-time ...

    --

The Kopiko Supercross Series will have 13 categories --Local Enduro, Open Enduro, Beginners Open Production, Novice Open, Intermediate, Pro Elite, Pro Open, Executive A (Old Veterans ), Executive B (Older Veterans) , Executive C (Oldest Veterans), Mini, Peewee 50cc, Peewee 65cc and Under A and Under B. -- This is pretty much the usual race classes for all the smaller races here also that are not nearly as big an event ....

These races bring out all the good riders and everyone is pushed down in the levels except for top PRO guys ... My WR250 rider runs the ENDURO classes and Open Production and Executive A ... These races are only 6-7 laps ... I'm at the Executive C class and should actually try Executive B as it is about the same group of riders ... Just a few faster guys there along with all my riding friends ... Maybe I'll pimp out another one of my TC Huskies to a top rider in the future again ...

    China bike re-branded as a bemmer ;0) ... Fools no one :)
    101_1621.JPG

Gates were full of riders ... 36 were in my class and I stalled the TC250 bike with the rear brake on about lap 3 when I ran up behind a slower rider and I could not get it re-started... I also forgot to turn on my helmet cam :( ... I started about 8th out of ~18 ... Guys were crashing in front of me and it was like an obstacle course driving around them ... It was so loud from all the bikes around me, I could not even hear my 010 TC250 engine hardly ... It would have been a great video :( ... 101_1700.JPG

We trail ride in the mountains in the distance of this pic ... My main touring trails are a little farther north but we do dip into that region and I'll be expanding there also in the coming months as an additional way west across the island...
    101_1708.JPG

These are some of my friends waiting to go onto the track for a race ... Thats Pepo Rubi #5 bike ...He's one of the godfathers of racing here ... Been doing PRO class since about 86 ... Doug Henry should remember Pepo and the Philippines remembers Doug... The guy holding his bike up is one of the senior trail riders here (George) ... He always leads a pack of 5-20 or more riders through the mountain trials ~every Sunday from the Talamban, Cebu City area... These guy are some of the studs here and riding \ racing with this crowd is a no-brainer for me ... They know and run the show and make it very easy ... Not the trails, as these guys want the hard, technical stuff I tend to shy-away from ... ESP if muddy out there ... I'll be taking the WR250 out with them in the near future I hope :) ... There are a few 250 2t machines here ... But nothing close to that Husky on power or suspension as most are much older machines...

On race day, that clayey mud got perfect for traction ... I'm just not comfortable enough with air-time to do most of the jumps that are there ...

    --

I'm hoping that in a yr or two, I can release more of my funds and have some sort of trail head with overhead cover and some sort of sleeping area to help on the cost of stopping over here and riding ... Nothing too fancy, just functional for the real rider types to camp out at and a point to launch rides from ...

This trail stop was in Luzon just north of Manila ...I doubt I could do a pond of that size but you never know ...

Awesome! Beautifull scenery and legit track! Doesn't matter where in the world, when that gate drops, it's ON!! Good on ya RR, have fun!! I'd love to come ride there, I bet your guided offroad-riding company would be a success!

Yep on that gate point ... It's always exciting in the gate... They had the guy dropping the gate hidden so no peeks at him for when he was gonna drop it ... I usually post on the far outside to avoid the traffic crunch ...

    --

The tours are OK... a little slow but everyone who has been here has liked it and always say they will return ... One guy from Australia has made a few trips over ... He's got a GF here so that helps and airline tickets from Aussie land to here are low priced at the current time ... That helps more than a GF maybe :) ... 30 riding days with customers a yr would be plenty .... Maybe up to 40-50 days would probably MAX me out ...

    --

This dirt here goes from too slick and dries to very hard ... And while it passes through extremes, it'll be like bubble gum with perfect traction at some point ...

EDIT: I should add that these guys never qualify for the MXDN as far as I know and I'm not sure who is trying for it ... But I think alot of that is because they just do not have the tracks to race on to improve their skills ...These type tracks here and the competition level will help them greatly ...

Its a huge sx outdoor track ... Not sure but they ran about 12 laps or more ... So endurance came into play ... Glen Aguilar is one of the top PRO guys here for yrs and lead some of the races but slowed as the race progressed ...He has been hurt from a crash and is just returning ... Another of the local guys had a lites class race won but made a simple crash 2 laps before the finish after battling one of the Danes for the entire race ...

I'm expecting the Filipinos to get better and if the Danes return, the racing will be even closer ... I might try to get a rider on my 010 TC250 in the PRO\Expert class ... Everyone and everything here is 100% accessible ... You can walk up to anyones camp and sit down and start talking :)

    --

At the level I race at, you gotta get a good start (top 10 at least for me), do a hot 1st lap, maybe 2 hot laps, hit a couple of the doubles, and then hang on for a top 5, top 3 finish... Most of us get tired after 3 laps or so :) ... I ride so much each week, I usually can pass guys towards the end and that is my strategy ... I almost never get a good start and have to pass riders to finish well :) .... Always fun making a pass :) ... I'm hoping to qualify next race and get into the main :) .. Practice is the key for me so I'll probably go Negros island as early as possible for the next leg in Feb...
