I have been reading all of these threads and wanted to thank every one here for all the great information that has been given about the Husqvarna TR650's. It is sad that there will be no more made because I have been waiting for 12 years to get a street bike close to the last dirt bike I had which was a kx500. In my opinion the Terra is as close to it as I have come across. Drop a 100lbs and it will be exactly the same in 4 stroke.

I started looking at this bike a month ago and 3 weeks ago called my local bmw/ducatti/husqvarna dealership and asked if they could get one for me. They said sure we can get two or three and I immediately said I would give a deposit. They said no need come on the weekend and I did. two weeks later nothing but a run around. I started making phone calls got to the corporate Husqvarna and found out there is 120 bikes sitting at the ports but have not been released due to KTM owner and BMW fighting over who pays the taxes. Although, the corporate rep got in touch with the local dealer and helped get the ball rolling. The local dealership backed out and I just bought it from a dealership in Virginia. What a night and day difference with in a day we had the shipping worked out to my door.

The dealership is Frontline Eurosports in Salem Virginia. I spoke to the sales manager Nate and he made the purchase exactly as I was looking for in the beginning. If you are looking for one there is one left there. If you want one of the 120 bikes left that will be shipped soon I would call Nate and get them. I am not a put in a plug for random people because I ran an Internet department for a Large car Manufacturer and would ship cars all over the world. In that regard the service I got from the first dealership was HORRIBLE! The experience I got from Nate was not only a sigh of relief I finally will get my hands on a brand new bike I hope to pass on to my son when he is older but he went well above what he had to. Nate is very active in the motorcycle industry and even invited me to attend a training course held by professional racers when he heard I planned on riding my bike everyday rain or shine!

I have high hopes for this Motorcycle and on Tuesday will finally found out if the 4 weeks almost everyday working to get the bike pays off! LOL

When i was looking for a dual sport, i test rode a klr, xr650 and a sertao. After one ride on the terra. i realized that it was in a class of it own. You will be amazed how a great bike it is on and off road.

Krider- I have been looking at and have rode a klr and rode a xr650 and to me just over weight and lack of power to really do any thing here I wanted to acomplish. My first bike was an xr250 and it was ok when I was a teenager. Because there was not one available any where in the South East I have not rode the bike. I did ride the sertao and based on the difference ( lighter, more aggressive engine, never be made again) made my decision to own the Terra. Plus no offense to BMW riders but I did not want a true BMW motorcycle. Now that I will it is like Christmas come not come soon enough.

Nev... I will find a good florida scene to take a picture then, although most people think of Florida for there beaches I do not go near the beaches with my vehicles lol. So it will be probably palmetto bushes or a fort in Saint Augustine.

Owned Honda's version of your KX for 15 years - I don't see a lot of parallels between the KX / CR 500 & the TR :) but it's a fun bike just the same. Congrats.

Four weeks...pshhhh...thats nothin'. I have had a deposit down since April...be here mid May...maybe late May...hmmm, may have been shipped back to Italy...maybe 60-90 days??? Might be here mid Aug...still have not heard anything, probably be branded a 2014...oh, it will be here Friday...maybe...we hope. In defense of the local guys they have been at the mercy of the distributors. I can track a two dollar part from Hong Kong, but they seem unable to determine the whereabouts of a $7k motorcycle. Hopefully the weather will clean up up here in AK and I can at least get it broken in before things get too white (if it is here Friday, or maybe next Tuesday, or...???).

MWGAK- I got the same feeling in a week and could not take the b/s so hunted one down. There is one in Virginia but I have seen some in Cali when I was calling around. Cali would not be that far away. I could not wait 6 months for some thing I was determined to buy. I only paid a few hundred more than if I would have waited like you are doing. All the dealers are waiting for BMW and Husqvarna to make a deal because every day that goes by the cost to store the bikes goes up.

Runit- I agree with you. That statement was a little ambitious but in my opinion still closer than a xr650 or klr 650. Give it 3" more of suspension travel a 100lbs lighter. I realize I was comparing apples to oranges in every category. Thank you for the input though.

How Mich did they charge you? And other than oil change and normal inspection any reason why it is a good thing to have the dealer service it? The reason I asked is I bought mine to tackle my own maintenance for a hobby

Sorry for the quick question. I did some research and found the answer. By the way autoplicity.com has the kn 151 oil filters on sale for around $4.50 each bought 10. Plan on changing the oil and filter at 20 miles then 200 then 1000. Probably not needed but I will sleep better. Lol I was reading where in the first 1200 miles its best to stay with conventional oil since I will be doing it often to let the rings wear in right then go synthetic. Any one agree with this theory?

I get free oil changes for life. And free scheduled services for the fist 5 years. And I have a 5 year warranty where everything is covered except for the tires and chain.
