Ok so I hear there has been 2 production runs. I just bought a 2013 a week ago. So how do you tell them apart and what if any are the differences? I see what looks like the exhaust pipe openings are a different shape, but I could be wrong.......anyone ??????

You know what...I noticed the same yesterday! In all of the magazine reviews it looks like the holes in the exhaust tips are larger and more squared. It is hard to tell, but I cannot make out any inserts or anything else.

In all of the customer bought TR's I have seen, they look more rounded and you can clearly see there is an insert in them. The inserts I am refering to are the ones mentioned in the forums that people are removing a circlip and pulling the internal baffels and packing.

    Odd.

If any of you here that have done the exhaust mod are reading this....any way you could take a short (20 second-ish) vid of it starting up and idling with a couple good turns of the throttle sprinkled in? Maybe even a before and after video clip?

The past few weeks I have searched YouTube with "TR650 exhaust", "TR650 exhaust gutted", "TR650 muffler mod" but nothing has been posted yet.

I haven't done any mods to my exhaust...but my openings are like the second batch..more square. My bike I believe was built 9-12.. So maybe it's the second batch. No owners manual though..the store owner said so far none had came with any tools.

Lol...well that makes perfect sense! I wonder if you could run it through Google Translate and re-save it in Chinglish?

Maybe mine (#4706) was "second" batch, as it's kickstand works normally, toolkit WAS under the seat, has no off-idle stumble, and there was actually some good stuff on my usb stick? I also got a paper owner's manual (in 8 languages, natch). Roundy exhaust outlets with cores removed. Sounds a bit louder, and deeper in tone now the baffle material has all blown out
There is still a bunch(?) of metal baffle in those cans, I may eventually drill 'em out.
    Weight removal plan is underway...

I believe all the Terra's have the round opening and all the Strada's have the square opening.

Well that makes perfect sense. Reckon the Terra is equipped with a round spark arrestor and the Strada..(being a slightly more street version) does not have the same?

Maybe not.. as the first pic in this thread clearly shows the square exhaust on a Red tanked Terra. .?

Looks to be different. Somebody cut theirs up and see what the difference is. I do like the way my Strada sounds..the exhaust seems to tuck up nice and close and doesn't seem to be anchor heavy. I reckon I'll keep mine as is.

My Terra also has the square exhaust outlets. Different spec exhausts for different markets possibly, or for low/high power models? In Australia we only got the first shipment in late Dec 2012 and the Strada's haven't arrived yet. I believe these are "second batch". Side stand is normal. Have the short tailpiece as per the top pic above. It has the "secret compartment" below the ECU, which I assume has been added to brace the rear mudguard to stop them vibrating themselves off. Totally happy with mine to date.

All Terras are being delivered to Australia in low power spec. I had mine derestricted by the dealer (some part is added or changed, I didn't pay much attention to what they said they had to do) but the difference is huge.

I'm going to get some thump screws and make the secret compartment a tool holder.....if my bike has one....
