That didnt take long.....3 rides and my black wire is open, red wire rings out good. I even zip tied the hard cover section so the weak point where wire come out of the heat shrink boot didnt get stessed. I threw a new battery into the computer just to be sure that was fresh. Verified the pickup and mag were installed.
Got a new cable on order. I was wondering why after reading re reading and reading again how the system operates it was not operating (I think it only worked on the first day it was ridden). Of course I was thinking what an idiot I am that I cant get my simple moto computer to work and that I must be doing something wrong.
Truth is Im so old school and grumpy, I hate (really despise, it really angers me) this electronic-stuff so much that I had resigned just to pull the cable cap off the pickup connector and disconnect the computer. If it fails again I will remove the entire assy it serves me nothing anyway. Clear gas tank is more trustworthy than any computer. side note I bought a analog battery powered timex watch for my handlebars and guess what.....the fffing thing loses 5-10 minutes a day,,,thats useless for enduro use, 25 bucks shot to hell. Im now in the market for an analog face wind up watch for my handlebars!!!
PS So for this weekends Mexi S/T ride when I really wanted to come to grips with keeping track of mileage etc my cable is removed and the attaching connectors are stowed. My grumpiness rant done for now. Next stop suspension (springs)

(PS my TE310 never worked well either, I just ignored it)

Well...still much cheaper of a failure then a certain redhead was for you...:). Sorry about that, any issues suck even if they're small

I only had stock cable hooked up a few days, as ICO Checkmate and cable went on bike. 2 years and no problems with ICO cable yet. Analog watch! Rob you are "old school"! If you can hit an Emergency Check, riding the sweep hand, you're my hero!

ps note, when i was down mexico bummed while watching all my crew and others heading out on the damp/no dust/flowing/non technical/epic LAMC ribbon marked 50 mile A, 35 mile B trail ride.
I drank morning beer and worked on my cable. R&Rd cable system checks good. I rode machine around campsite 1 handed to test. hey i got a discount on my cable, but i still payed for it- no warranty.

edit to add insult to injury my carpool companion ISDE Andy came if from 50 mile A loop in @ 2 1/4 hour just spooled up....and I said if were on the game I would go out and do it again....he went out and did the 35mile B loop, much to his joy at railing his KTM300XC-W for another fast loop....

That the toughest part of being injured is hearing about all the epic rides your crew is doing. :banghead:

    - BTW my stock TE511 comp is chugging away after 5400 miles. :D

Broke my second odometer cable on the 13-14 sep Tecate trail ride, I had it well managed/secured but still must have got caught on a branch down at the brake caliper. The contact of one wire yanked out of the connector and the other wire just yanked out of the contact. New cable assy on order.
