Nice to see them putting a little effort into the 2 stroke line. That would be cool to see kawi bring back the KX line also.

They should bring back the 2-stroke IT's as well. They were the original blue Yamaha.

I WR250 would sell very well. I dont understand why they don't bring them back. Different suspension settings. a big tank and 18" rear wheel is all it really needs to be successful.

It'd be hard for me to hand over the cash on that when the Husky TC250 is the same price...I love Yamaha but I'm not sure if this is better then throwing the model away

Are parts of the island of Japan gonna break away from honda and make 2t bikes again? If the $ scent is strong enough, yep.... honda will come back also .. Ain't that cool :)

Agreed. A real Wide Ratio gearbox would be good too and a seat thats a tad softer and wider than a 2*4. I believe Yamaha is basically only hanging on to their two strokes. New graphics equates to no improvement and the other parts arent anything significant unfortunately.

But the bike is very good, has the best forks ever made, is super solid, has a great motor. Not sure what you could upgrade on it :excuseme: other than make a WR version. I'd like it to handle a little quicker, other than that no real changes needed.

their (Japanese motor companies) bean counters only need 1/2 a moe to see how much KTMs 2T market share is in addition to the smaller EU brand 2Ts. They are miles behind the EU sales of 2T bikes. They really need to built full on "race ready"ENDURO/trail/XC machines, and US market street legal 4T enduro bikes.
I digress to 4T-Honda still has a stupid large following here in SoCal they would sell 1000s of CRF-X 350/450/500cc DS legal bikes here.....meanwhile KTM/Husky (Beta too) are going full force building DOT "race" bikes. Well Im just a consumer......

They know this. They also know they make WAY more money on street bikes, quads and scooters so thats where the manufacturing money goes. KTM may own the off road market but on the street where the real profit margins are Yamaha makes KTM look like a non player.

Was a die-hard Yamaha rider for years. Still like them. But I wanted a street legal dirtbike. Ended up with a TE310 and then went a little nuts on the italian bikes. :D This forum is responsible for me getting a tiddler as I went to get a 630 from Halls and saw the 125 in person. No regrets as I love all 3 of em. Just need more time to ride now! Will be on the 144 tomorrow morning. Son will be on my 310.

Kinda the same thing for me. Rode mostly Yamaha's before getting the Husky bug big time. The handling won me over. Yamahas don't handle super sharp.

My riding style in the tight woods changed overnight when I moved from the YZ250 to the 310. I used the rear brake on the YZ alot to slide the rear. On the 310, I just point the damn thing where I want to go and pull the trigger. I was instantly faster on the 310. Pissed my 24 yr old son off cuz he was starting to ease away from me on the trail when I was on my YZ, then all of the sudden I was all over him, passed him and pulled away. :oldman:The old man can still hang!

that's the thing though it would cost them bugger all to bring out a yzwr125/250(300 kit maybe too) street legal 2t. they already have a good reputation. maybe some minor handling/gearing changes. ok theres a bit of money to get them street legal/titled/homologated but whats that to Yamaha. they have all the tooling & spares etc already, good reliable motors, decent chassis & grouse suspension. like Kelly said a big tank, soften suspension, 18" rear wheel & a lighting/speedo kit & boom there you have it!! id buy one of them before a 125/250/300 te or exc. personally I reckon theyd walk out the door quicker than dealers could stock them. im sure Yamaha could come up with a decent leccy start for it also which would really hurt ktm/husky(I know the new ones are better but they are still rubbish, ugly bolt ons!). ok so the e-start would raise the price a little, make it optional?!

In that picture you can see the carb feeds the cylinder in a similar manner to say my 2004 wr250. Not a case reed. Is there any other 250 out there now with this design?

What sort of adjustments are in the powervalve governor?

Do they have end of year blow outs on this model, Last fall I heard some radio ads for the 450 four strokes at reduced prices.

This is getting a little funny now ... A decades old 2t bike is driving down the cost of modern 4t bikes? Honda is saying I told you so. :0)

It isn't a decades old bike it says up above somewhere it has the best forks out there. Are those forks the same right vs left? I imagine the chasis is designed on completely different "drawing boards" than decades ago. Sorry about the cost end of it more intrested in the other items. I did ride one a few years ago not sure if it was race modified or not.
