FIRST MX2 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS FOR HUSQVARNA The first race of the MX2 GP was held at the fantastic track of Sevlievo in Bulgaria, where the Husqvarna Ricci racing Team made its debut. The Californian Michael Leib was advised not to race, after still suffering from headaches during Saturday’s free practice. It seems as if he’s still not fully recovered from the big crash he recently sustained in the Italian championship race, so he preferred to not take any major risks. Leib will return to California this week for more check-ups and to continue his recovery in preparation for the third race of the championship, the US GP at Glen Helen. Therefore, it was left to Italian rider Alessandro Lupino to fly the flag for Husqvarna at this first GP, and he did quite a good job. After having qualified in 18th place on the Saturday, Lupino made a bad start to the first heat and was down to 30th position after the first turn. He fought his way back to 20th place by the end and in doing so, gained his the first point of the season. In heat 2 Lupino made significant improvements. He started in 15th and after a great race that featured many battles with top riders such as Roelants and Kullas, he managed to finish in 11th place, just outside the top ten. With these results Lupino now sits in 15th position in the overall standings after the first MX GP on his factory Husqvarna TC 250.
yes and American MX or SX team would be great ... this MX2 stuff is probably looked upon as a proving ground \ stage 1 in a longer plan ... Husky needs to make a good showing at GH to kick the ball on the road in a positive manner ... If I ever get a bike in the position as the last photo, consider me crashed big-time ... Also, too bad to hear about ML ... I hope he is OK and back riding soon ...
