I did the first oil change at 74 miles. I decided to go with Mobil 1 full synthetic 5w40. First time changing oil on a 2 stroke..... wow that's simple and quick.any oil suggestions?

Mob1 is good stuff. I switched to the 0-40w after the thaw here. Since then I've found it on sale at either Advance Auto or Wally World/Walmart so happy with that. Bike is happy too, shifts smooth and easy. I change @ 10 hrs, so once a week for me lately. Each time oil is just a little darker than new and negligible junk on the mag drain plug

I did the mobil 1 on the first change but I just bought a gallon of the rotella t6 for the next couple of oil changes. I'm thinking as long as I change it often I will be fine. I also just installed the map switch and I love it. I noticed a huge difference when I put it on the "wild" setting. Best $25 spent

T6 is good stuff too. I think Mob1 on sale is about the same price @ $25
Some like a high quality ATF, but I haven't tried it.

At this point I'm not too worried about the difference in price, I'm more concerned about the quality of the oil.

both the mobil and rotella t6 are probably the best you can run for the money.

Mobil One 0-40 with some Lucas additive and the bike shifts like a good trigger on a target rifle.

I just changed the oil today and I used the rotella. I guess I will see how I like it later this week. Does anybody know the size of the brass crush washer for the drain plug?

I use mobil 1 0-40w, never really thought about how it shifts until I let a friend right and he loved how it shifts. I rode his KTM xc 300 about 25 miles, I have to admit it is a pretty nice bike.

Lando, it is a keeper now that my man Drew at WER massaged the suspension. Was unridable stock and damn near killed me. Very, very good power for a little 250, hate the boat anchor linkage tho wheelying over big logs and rocks and my only complaint. Watched Romaniacs Prelude today and many got hung up on the linkage going over the big log at the end. I'll learn to deal with it. My YZ slid over everything but the Hooskie handles a bit more modern. Still have to ride the bike with your head over the handle bars and not like your sitting on a couch. Big top end on the road too, runs away from many bigger scooters. BTW it shifts great, unreal difference. 0-40 and the dreaded Lucas additive.

Lucas Synthetic oil stabilizer 10% in wet clutch 4 strokes others 20%. Tested the shifting with and without it and there was no comparison, but it may have been the engine breaking in. Best shifting bike since my CRF days.
