Hi guys, my first post here, and i was hoping that i may get some advice from the fueling guys maybe? I have just purchased a 630, and it has got the full Arrow exhaust system fitted, the PU kit, and a pre filter fitted to a hole in the side of the air box to open it up. It also has the JD Jetting kit fitted to it. The problem i am having is that when i got the bike it was running fine, but had no DB killers in the exhaust, and my neighbours would soon get fed up of it. So i fitted the DB killers to the cans, and filled it up with BP ultimate, and now i have found that the bike accelerates fine, and decelerates fine, but when i get up to speed and roll off just a little to maintain that speed, it feels like the bike has been turned off for a second, and then back on when i apply a little more throttle. Not too much of a problem, until i am mid corner and it does it, as the pegs have now hit the floor a couple of times as the bike with no throttle just falls over, and i have to apply more throttle to stop the hesitating, and pull the bike up again. Just wondered if anyone has any suggestions regarding this? I did wonder if it was the fuel, so i have since drained the tank, and filled it up with fresh fuel, but it doesn't seem to have made much if any difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Richard.
What are your JD settings like? Not a real fix, but have you tried keeping it in a lower gear to keep the RPMs up a bit when you're in the twisties?
hi, thanks for the reply, although it doesn't matter how high the revs are, it happens when the throttle is neutral and the JD settings are G3.5 Y5 R5 GB3.5 YB4 RB5
Try taking your GB setting down a bit and see if that helps. I've ended up on 2. It doesn't affect fueling level, just the point where you're transitioning from green to yellow. If that makes no change, try bringing the YB down for the same reasons. I'm not sure which zone you're going in and out of.
sounds like a plan.... will give that a go tomorrow then. thanks. i will find a quiet back road, and start at 1 and go up from there, and see what difference it makes then.
Have you tried removing the DB killers to see if that is what really started the problem you reported? What rpms are you noticing the stalling issue during cornering? Typically fitting anything within the exhaust air flow requires leaner fuel metering.
I recently picked up a te630 too, and mine was like this from the first ride. I set the jd tuner settings back to the recomended settings and it smoothed things out. You have more mods, so I'm not sure that would work for you, but it sounds like a fueling prob.
My TE does this too, without a JD Tuner - if I am coasting, and then apply some throttle, there is a little bit of a snap, then if I then take off the throttle there is another small snap. I always assumed it was the chain, switching the tension from the top to the bottom when I go from accelerating to decelerating (I keep my chain somewhat loose). Feathering the clutch fixes the problem. I'd be curious if this is something that can be fine tuned through JD Tuner.
Well, thanks for all the replies guys.... i have just returned from a three hour ride, and i think i have sorted it out now. I think now that it was a combination of higher octane fuel, and fitting the DB killers, making the mixture too rich. I rode for a while on the settings it was on, and the problems started after the engine was hot, so i stopped, and upped the settings by one on everything. This made it worse, so after a couple of miles i stopped again (the JD box is under the seat) and dropped everything back to previous settings. a little better. So again i stopped, and dropped the settings by half each time, and played with them a little, making sure i only moved things a little each time to not overdo it. I have now had a full hour riding the bike, without any problems, and the feel now is great, with no snatching and no wierd throttle 'turning off' feeling. The settings i am now on are as follows, G - 2 Y - 2.5 R - 6 GB - 2.5 YB - 1 RB - 5 hope this helps anyone that has had the same issues, as the bike feels completely different now, and i have now got enough confidence in it round corners that i can start to have fun on it, instead of thinking that it is going to 'turn off' mid corner and make me drop the bike, lol.
