To answer my own question..just tried bike with and without it. Huge difference.

With weight, bike is much smoother and slower revving. Smother idle and less vibration it seems.

Without weight... I was wondering if there is something wrong with my bike...well, there is nothing wrong with it when weight is removed, it's a beast that wants careful right hand application. Idle is rougher to the point where I might even have to retune my Lectron carb. Also, recluse clutch operation is affected to a degree, it's more difficult to dial in engagement point because of idle.

Summary, if want to make your bike easier to ride and tame the beast, put the weight on, but it might take some fun out of it.

Is that what was making your bike feel so much less snappy? If that's cheating, I'm going to stay legit! ;)

Yep, removed flywheel and bike seemed LOT more snappy. And starting is easier as well.

I have to put weight back for now as I am missing a washer to make switch permanent, but my curiosity is satisfied.

Having said that, I have not made decision yet as to if I will run it with or without the weight.

Yep, weights make a huge difference. I think the WR has about the right amount with the stock ignition. Adding a little could make things a bit more tractable, but I wouldn't want it. Switching to a CR style ignition and you lose that and the bike goes into a 12 year old on red bull mode and wants to just run around screaming, requires much more precise input to keep wheel spin in check.

I would've like a Hinson Momentum clutch basket, which is all steel and adds flywheel effect (as well as making it beastly and bulletproof), but alas, there is only OEM replacement or Fast by Ferracci clutch basket options. Combine one of those baskets with a CR ignition, and I think it would be the best 300 setup possible.

ks9mm, What pipe is on your 300? I do not run a FWW, but have a race head and PC2 pipe JD 38mm Kehein, mine seams to idle well, but im always looking for more bottom. Even if i gear down to a 12 front, in the nasty mountain goat trails i still seam to stall, or spin out. Where a ktm 300 seams to just motor up in the same area.

Did you do the FWW, Recluse, and the Lectron at the same time? If not, which do you think helped the bike put the power to the ground in that type of application? I have a Recluse but have not installed it, I use 1st gear as my parking break to keep the bike from rolling away when shut off. Im not sure if I can live without that. (Maybe LHB would Work?)

I have stock head pipe and Leo Vince silencer. I bought the bike with fww and recluse. I added Lectron myself because of the promise of easier Tunning and smoother power..

One of the reason I took fww off and will probably take recluse off is just to experiment. I compared my bike to other 300 and mine was way way slower, less snappier. But silly easy to ride with tons of torque. To me this is fww effect. Also, recluse allows you to run gear higher, putting power down smoother.

I can tell you that recluse does have little bit of drag, so I have to run idle a bit higher than I would otherwise. So this would prevent bike from rolling.

Fww is only $110 and takes minutes to install. Easy and cheap enough to try. For rock gardens I would want to have one on my bike.

Running stock 300 here with turbine core 2 jd jet kit tmx and 12/48 gearing. It is very tractable and climbs well. Suggest race head removal and or suspension setup.

Yes I just took mine off. I had 10 ounce weight and the bike was too smooth. Not as snappy of a throttle response. I have pro circuit pipe and kehin Pwk 38. When I took the weight off the bike came alive especially in mid range. I'm a small guy though 5'11 170lbs. The guy I originally bought my bike from was 260lbs

I ride mostly here Florida at Croom which has very technical terriain.
