Has anyone tried the FMF Q4 exhaust on a 09 TE 310/250? I tried searching but I cannot find much information. I am currently using the stock exhaust with the DB killer installed. It is quiet enough but the DB killer seems to take away a little bit of the power plus there is no spark arrestor. I am interested in knowing how quiet the FMF is compared to stock and also how it affects the power. I have read good things about the Leo Vince but it is much more expensive. Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks, Steve.

Had a Q4 on mine for a VERY short time before going back to the stocker w/spark arrestor. Didn't care for it, but it does what it says it will. It's quite. Might have been in my head, but it felt like it was way, way down on power over the stocker too. I didn't give it a fair shake though. One ride and I punted it. Haven't tried the DB killer, but as I say, the FMF was quite noticeably quieter over stock when you get on it. For me, the stocker is where it's at all things con$idered.

Thanks for the feedback. I will probably just stick with the stocker for now since it seems like the FMF won't be much better.

Disappointed to hear this about the FMF as I want a quiet TE that makes good power. The stocker is borderline too loud for me but given that 250's don't have an overabundance of power, I don't want to lose anything.

As I say, I didn't give mine a full thrashing. Felt weak off the bottom, but maybe a little tuning on the iBeat would have cured that. I didn't take the time to do so. All I can say is I was disappointed. Might just be I'm so use to riding by feel as much as by the sound of my bike, that not being able to hear it made me "think" it was down on power. Sure didn't impress me though as I'd hoped. If your looking for quiet though, it does do that! Don't want to bag on FMF either. They do make a quality product.

FWIW- I have never put a FMF muffler (Q4, 4.1 etc) on a bike that didnt:

Make at least 2 hp and 2 lbs/ft tq
Require fueling changes to get the power.

If you are running a FI bike in race mode and change the airflow characteristics of the engine you will need to change the fuel delivery. Race mode is a fixed map, with no dynamic adjustment or feedback mechanism.

Not to be a jerk- but its analogous to saying I put a muffler on my CARBed bike and didnt re-jet it and it feels worse/no better etc.

It wont be apples to apples, but I ordered a Q4 for my 2010 TXC250 as I feel the OE pipe is way too loud even with the S/A installed (we have a 96 dBa test here this year for BLM/forest riding). I will dyno test this pipe once it is installed and the FI is tuned for it and report back in the 4s forum.

I wholeheartedly agree with your last paragraph. I will ride a 2010 TE250 tomorrow and heard it run at the dealer today. That thing was WAY too loud for trail riding. Not even close to what my 2004 TE250 sounded like. I have owned a 2007 TE250 and a 2008 TE250/Athena 310 and each bike has gotten progressively louder. I have heard the FMF is still on back order. I may go so far as to spec my bike with one before I pick it up.

Keep us posted as to when you get your FMF. I'll be picking up my TE250 in a couple weeks and want the noise issue handled pronto.
