My foot pegs always felt cramped on my 610 so I thought I would try fixing them. When I compared my 610 to my 450 I noticed they were a half inch closer to the shifter giving me only 4.5" between them.My 450 has 5.0" and I measured my friends KTM and it also has 5.0". With the extra space it's not only more comfortabe it shifts better and it seems easier to find neutral. Here are some pictures.
Thanks, they did turn out great and they work perfect! They are steel plates with flat head screws and I just painted them to match.I could make more if there was enough interest.
I installed the peg adaptors the other night. On my maiden voyage, I noticed something right away. Last year, I had raised the shifter one tooth to give clearance for my boot. Now that the peg is in the correct position I was able to put the shifter back down in the OEM spot. Then I ripped around town, hooligan style, shifting the bejesus out of her. What really sums up my feelings about this mod is: THANKS Husky666. This is how my Husky should have come from the factory!!!
No,it's only a 1/2". All it does is make the bike feel more comfortable and easier to shift.I think that is part of the reason the 610 trans feels so stubborn.
I notice that if you switch sides the effect is to lower the peg, although then the plate and peg backing dont match up as artfully. Im going to give them a try both ways this weekend. By the way, service was quick and the parts are well designed and appear well built.
Thanks packfill! You should have blown off V-day and gone riding with us in Barstow. It was sunny 70 degrees with snow on the mountain tops,it doesn't get any better!
I hammered these things in the central Oregon desert yesterday. At speed, 260lb rider, plus gear chasing an Expert GP/XC rider on a KTM 250. The plates still look good as new and made the bike much more comfortable and much easier to move around on.
