Hello guys. It´s time for a change of forkoil on my 300 and i wonder what viscosity is recommended. I couldn´t find what viscosity it should be in the service manual, only that the amount should be 643cc in each leg. I´ve heard that some guys use ATF oil and that it works fine. What do you think?

On most Twin Chamber type forks I run ATF in the outer chambers. Sometimes in the cartridge, but normally a good RSF there.

The heavier weight fluids will give your forks a different feel so beware ....

Oil is oil ... you can put 5w-40 in there if you want to ...

5W @ 120mm from the top is what I run in the open chamber 50mms.

Viscosity wise, Mobil ATF is about the same as 5wt. HONDALINE Showa oil.

Are the '10 WR forks open chamber or TC type ?

Thanks for the info everyone. I´m satisfyed with the forks as they are, so i will let the oil out and refill with the same amount or maybe slightly more as i am about 200 pounds without gear. Do you think that could be a good idea? I have the 48mm Kayaba forks.
