Man, Maybe it is just me but the latest TT software is horrible. For future reference for this site to keep it good please...

    - Do not make inserting picture show the picture in your post as you build it. I hate that, takes up a bunch of space. Keep it text based as it is now. If you want to see it hit preview. Simple.

    - The new TT is a white wash, hard to see things individually.

    - My spell checker does not work in TT now because when I right click I get copy/paste not my spelling choices.

To many ads everywhere, looks like an ad page with a sliver of forum.

    * Not bashing TT at all, they are trying but IMHO have gone backwards the last two upgrades to make it look more fancy.

+1 Absolutely! I went there last night and I was completely lost at first. After using it a while I am still coping.

I agree. TT has definitely gone backwards with the last 2 "upgrades". Visually not very pleasing, and talk about ad overload.

I've been working on a similar change since February a few hours a day, seriously. :p

I can assure you though that things will be handled a little differently, and the primary intent is to make things better for the members. You will have to trust me on that (or not). People from all over the world are helping out with ideas and input.
    • Much Alpha/beta testing with larger and larger number of people reviewing it
    • Phone conversations walking people through how to do things
    • Lots of instructional 'how to' information including screen casts (movies)
    • List of new features, that help people keep track of things
    • Custom code to make it as similar to the software we are using as practical
    • And a bunch more stuff I cannot remember at the moment.

    Remember this thread? LINK

vBulletin is no longer viable or usable. The are owned by a corporation that makes 98% (my personal best guess) from advertising on their own web of 100+ sites. They have no reason to produce software that works consistently version after version.

Regarding TT, you will have to decide if you like, or not. In all honesty it is working better than vBulletins new v4 after months of releases. It has some rough edges but I'm convinced things will get better and easier to use.

(psst - they don't have a swear filter at the moment, anything shows up :p)

That means all companies, websites, products, everything that had asterisks show up as they were originally typed. I thought 'motoplastics' was one of them.

The software is also allowing hot links in signatures at the moment.

My guess would be those are some of the top priority things they are working on.

Just to be clear, there are a large number of people that have used vb for a long time, some over 8+ years, that never joined or even posted on the vb support forums. Since December they have not only joined, they have been posting voraciously. Some of those people have sites that dwarf TT by a large amount, and others have an extremely large number of licenses.

Things are *not* good at the moment.

I have to say i like how this site looks and runs a billion times better than TT at the moment.

This already exists on this forum, but the default is to show text, not smilies. Try it yourself. When making a post there is a button on the upper right and when your mouse is over it, it says 'switch editor mode'. Click on that and when you insert a smilie it show up instead of the text for the smilie.

    Me too.

I do have a question I've been agonizing over, do you like the way the background picture shows up on TT now? Maybe not the picture itself, but the concept?

    100% agreement!

I was going to make a similar post to yours, yesterday, after experiencing the horror that is the new TT.

I won't criticize, because I realize they are trying to make things better. However, I MUCH prefer it how it was.

So far it has been downhill from all the "fixing" they have been doing.

It's like someone tried to fix Pam Anderson's boobs.

I too feel the "upgrades" are retrograde, must be the sheer usage across the whole site that has caused them to use other (not better) software. As for the global trash talk on their "village site" its just plain ranting red neck rubbish. The Cafe Husky site is more user friendly and a lot more personable-Cheers.

I like that Coffee does not allow political talk here, it always takes an ugly turn as people have different views and strong heads about it. Lets keep it just bikes and fun stuff, we can do drunk wrestling matches at the campfire over politics. :D

I’ve almost completely abandoned TT altogether… :excuseme:

Other then that this place is just better

If you're planning on switching to IP.Boards then I'm going to laugh my ass off at you when it runs like crap (and it will :D). I've been working with a very large site that runs IP.Boards and no matter what you do (besides shutting all the features off), anytime you get any kind of crowd on the board you start to have major performance issues (making it unusable). VB may not be perfect but it's by far better than any other forum software out there. ;)

FWIW, this is just a setting within your control panel. Go in to your CP and choose user options, under there (the very last option) change it from WYSIWYG Editor to basic text.

Advrider is the same way as TT by default. Drives me nuts.
