I just put new crank seals in and my plug fouled real wet and oily on first tank of gas? Does this mean I'm too rich?

Look at your gear oil level, Has it dropped ? does it smell of fuel ? If it was good before hand you may of damaged the seal when fitting it or put it in the wrong way round, if all is ok what carb and jetting do you have ?

My oil is exact same... I made sure of didn't mess up when I put it on cause happened first time. Its an old dellorto not sure about jets I'll have to check. I just put new seal in cause old one was damaged and had to rebuild engine

It's got a 192 and 40 there is quite a bit of spoofe coming out too. It's always done it. Could I drop the needle one clip? I'm gonna check float height if I can on this wierd carb

I was doing some reading and I guess the dellorto sucks! They say to get a tmx or pwk. I just got done doing a rebuild so don't have much money. Anyone know where to get a used one for cheap? I'm not sure what to look for. If rather try to get a different carb than mess with piece of crap. Thanks for all your help

With the amount of lectrons that are installed on the bikes on this forums there should be a good market for you to get a TMX or a PWK

Yah I would like a lectron but being such an old bike is rather put money elsewhere. What would an enfine feel like if it was running lean? I'm just nervous cause don't want to blow it after fresh rebuild. From what my spark plug shows is not lean at all yet.

I adjusted the float and needle and man does this thing rip! I think i might be a tad lean. The powerband seems to kick in at 1/4 throttle all the way up. the first one is a plug chop and the other one is the one that has been in it IMG_0458.jpg IMG_0456.jpg IMG_0452.jpg

My plug was darker than that when I leaned the Lectron as far as I dared. I put in a new plug for that run.

Yah im not sure i did plug chop right. The second plug has about 1 hour on it or less. It still spooges a little but seems to run fine.

Your bike looks good. What tire is on the rear? It looks to be good on the slick stuff.

I screwed my air screw in 1 turn and rode another mile and the plug was nice and golden on ceramic and looked a lot better. I think im pretty close.

Its a shinko 244. So far im liking it. I ride old country paved roads to get back and forth and it corners pretty good. its not to bad in dirt. Its not bad for almost being 23 yrs old

As far as I know, to get a reading on a plug chop WFO. You actually cut the threads back to see the base of the insulator. The reading up top is inaccurate.

Hence "plug chop". Could be wrong but that's always what I've read.

Thanks!! The other side is starting to peel but still doesnt look to bad. Im trying to figure a way to lower pegs cause im 6 3'' and its kind of cramped. Ill prob just leave it but would be nice to get a taller seat which i will probably do once it needs recovered But i can tell you i like this bike better than my friends crf450r. I love the engine on this thing.

Im also looking around for a new power valve assymbly. Mine has never had one so it doesnt have much bottom. The only thing I have is the rod on top and covers. If anyone ever runs accross of one let me know.

My bike doesn't seem to want to rev out its not running that good. Real choppy then stops at about 3/4 throttle. It was running fine? Ideas?
