After stopping at four auto parts shops (even two non chain versions) I gave up after no one stocked the HS1 headlight bulb (basically a low powered H4).

I found these Eiko 48220-BP 35W/35W on amazon for just $9 shipped. I have had great luck with Eiko bulbs, so I figured I would give it a go.

Bottom line, they are fantastic - very good light that is definitely brighter than stock, but zero heat issues. I bought two for grins. I only had to replace the OEM as I dunked my bike in over-the-bars water...evidently bulbs don't like shock cooling in an Arkansas river!

BTW, no issues with the fit or harness connection. Sized perfectly for my TE449 (and I assume any other HS1 equipped bike). A buddy ran a regular H4 and his plastic lens lasted about 10 mins!

Yes, yikes. The problem is that it's a HS1. There's only so much you can get out of a 35 watt halogen bulb and if you go any bigger, it melts your lenses. There really is no great solution to fixing the oem light. Converting to a 35watt HID is the best thing you can do.

I like the HID option. I run one on my BMW and have had great luck - very different environment, however, even though it does see dirt quiet a bit...it just doesnt get beat on like my Husky. Sometimes I actually pitty my poor Husky.

Do the HIDs seem to hold up to long-term offroad abuse? No temp issues?

I never intentionally ride at night, but a few flat tires int he group or a major mechanical issue and you can find yourself 50 miles deep in the bush with nothing but starlight. My little $9 bulb is most certainly brighter than OEM, but I would like a solid solution.

HID is still #1 light used in off road racing.

Is this kit adaptable to a stock 2014 TE 310 R headlight housing??? Or will it melt all the stuff???

Heat should not be a problem. The HID runs considerable cooler than its incandescent equidistant. I just ordered a slim ballast 35W setup from Amazon for $22 shipped! I am still nursing an injury, so I am off the bike for another week or two and need something to do. I have a solid weekend bike thrashing coming up in early June. If my $22 HID setup survives the Show Me 200 - it will survive anything.

It's amazing - I have been getting China post stuff in as little as 3-4 days. Small parcels must all be going air now in lieu of surface.

Doesn't just about everything come from China now? Heck our motor came from Taiwan and I know Kymco (which makes really quality stuff) sources many components from China. I am not anti-Chain by any means...sure the $4 battery drill from Harbor Tools is not a Dewalt - but the Dewalt came from China too - it was just made in a substantially more advanced facility.

Not you Tinkin - but it cracks me up that general bashing of Chinese manufacturing...occurs on their phone, tablet, or computer made in China...

Our engines were cast in China, parts sent to Germany to be assembled with German bearings. Husky changed some covers, but we have BMW engines.

p.s. I did order the above kit. I figured I would run it in my oem head lamp until I get my 8" reflector like the one on my race bike below.

It does now, all over. I spent mega hours into that bike getting it prepped for racing. You can barely see the corner of Brabec's fender in that picture lol
