    Hi Guys -

I'm in the process of bringing a 1979/80 390 Auto back to life and would like to "renew" the frame.

Does anyone have a specific powder coat color (brand and color number) that is a pretty good match to the original Husky silver? This won't be a show bike, but I'd like to get the color pretty close.

    Thanks,
    Scott

You might call these guys and ask them. I had mine blasted and cleared so I didn't put any color on....

They do Vintage Iron's Restorations... they should know the Husky color pretty close.

I'll start a Tech Ref Thread if we get clear answers in here.

    Kwacker -

I'll check with the guys in Santa Ana on Monday for a powder coat color and will post what I learn.

    Thanks,

I am interested to hear if there is an exact (or close to exact) powder coat match as my 73' CR 400 frame and swing arm are going in for blasting this week prior to PC.

    Regards to all.

This is as close as you will get to the original Husky silver in a Powder.

This is a custom mix made by Cardinal and only available in small quantities thru Powder Coating Specialist in Golden, CO. Their is a 5lb min purchase at $12.00 a pound, enough to do 2 frames. You must e-mail Jack when ordering - jack.howell@powdercoatingspecialties.com 303-278-0406 www.powdercoatingspecialties.com

    Guys -

I gave Olymic Powder Coating a call this morning and unfortunately I couldn't get any intel on powder coat color other than a color called "Stardust" as a close match for Husky silver. The guy on the phone didn't know if it was a standard or special blend made for them.. and he couldn't tell me the powder vendor. I did a little digging on the internet and found a vendor named Quality Powder Coating out of Carrollton, Tx that has a Stardust Silver. It looks pretty close, but who can tell from a small area presented on a computer screen.

I will probably go with Husky-Parts recommendation above for my 79 390 Auto.

I am planning to paint my frame this summer using a HPLV paint gun.

Anyone have a source for a silver paint that closely matches the silver for my 81 430?

Anybody have a reference for the '87-'88 white frame color in powder or paint?

The reference given above by Husky-Parts was helpful for my silver color question. Below is the contact data. Probably worth giving Jack a call... he'll likely be able to supply you with powder.
