Does anybody know what the electrical cable to the front brake caliper is for ( if there is a thread about this already, which one )
    No ABS on these bikes
    Brake pad wear indicator maybe?
The workshop manual shows the cable but I can't find any reference to it.

Speedo ? That's electronic isn't it, and there doesn't seem to be anything like an ABS disc for the pickup to read off.

It is the speedo pickup, there's a magnet on the brake disc, the sensor only takes one reading per wheel revolution (that's why the speedo takes so long to update)

Yep, look in all of your brake bobbins up front, one has a shiny magnet glued into it.
