In the past few weeks my TE has started acting up, cuffing, occasional decel pop, very rich exhaust, never dies but lacks power until I get to about 2/3 throttle then it goes. Pump always primes and sounds as it always has. Valves in spec, etc. My bike has always run rich, even after dealer adjustment, have PC V on the way to fix. However, I've run it for 200 hours and it's run very well, not perfect, but very well.

I hope my fuel pump isn't failing...thought I try replacing the filter first.

Has anyone sourced a replacement filter?

It would have to be the same and FI pressure approved. VW had some filters that looked like the ones attached to the pump, but it has been so many years since I worked at VW all I can say is it looks like a type III in-line fuel injection filter. That is were I am going to look first when and if I need one.

Thanks Gary, I'll investigate the VW route and post my findings.

Wouldn't a plugged filter have the opposite effect? Leaner?

Is the filter part of the uber expensive pump assembly or is it listed as a separate part number?

I have faith you will like the PC V very much

My recent condition could be lean, I'm convinced I don't know.

I sure hope the PC V is the end of my recent troubles and the long standing too rich condition. I should receive it just in time to leave for a non-riding vacation. It may be a few weeks before I know for certain.

When I get some time, I'll pull the filter and check flow through it, along with capturing all the numbers on it.

What little I've read so far, air in the line, even tiny bubbles can cause the symptom I've been experiencing. Not from a leak, but from fuel shear causing aeration via cavitation while driving a citation anywhere in the nation especially to a celebration. I just want to ride.
