I've had an EJK on my bike for almost a year now. The bike runs great when the temps are below 90* F. Today I went on a long fire road ride with a group of guys and the bike ran great for the first 3 hours. Then I noticed that it started to behave badly. It surges a lot at idle and died a couple of times on downhills with no throttle. It pops loudly as I let off the gas. It still has good power as I accelerate, but it surges at idle and sometimes dies too. We went from 1700 ft to 5700 ft and back down. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? It was VERY bumpy prior to the problems. I'm wondering if the connections by the fuel injector are loose?

    Yep possibly...
Just another of the many design faults.

I removed the gas cap and it barely wants to idle still. Would that eliminate it as an issue?

Could be you IAC valve (idle air control) on side of the throttle body. Mine did the same thing. It ran perfect and in the middle of a ride it failed on me and would not idle at all. I had a check engine light that came on also. Maybe yours is starting to go bad.

I don't remember whether it was posted in CH or ADV but someone had to replace their fuel pump and the symptoms were nearly the same. Or perhaps just crap fuel?

I found the issue. I did the cannisterectomy a couple months ago and I capped one of the vacuum lines. The cap is no longer there. I started the bike and it surged and died. I then plugged it with a screw and it purrs like a kitten. I need to find a more permanent way to plug this line.

Leave the original Purge Valve in place and wired up, there is no need to remove it.

I like as little clutter as possible. I think this setup should work better.

As per the testing done by DRZ-Charlie and others on the Terra plus what has been learned on the 650 Rotax BM's, the BMS-E leans the fuel out slightly when the valve opens so when it is disabled/removed the BMS-E firmware needs to be reprogrammed to the ECE firmware to correct the fuel delivery
