its a large o-ring that my local dealer wanted $35 for and had to order in.

I went to my local o-ring supplier and pulled one off the shelf for $1.79

I think its made of "viton", its just plain expensive. Im not sure how necessary it is to have a viton seal, not sure how fuel effects normal rubber.

my supplier specifically asked what it was sealing and gave me a fuel safe material.

I used some black rtv along with the leaking o ring.. When that fails I'll find a new o ring. Works great so far. Thanks.

    black rtv isn't fuel-safe.

its not going to last very long before you have a fuel tank full of that shit and a leak on the floor.

only use brown permatex form-a-gasket in fuel situations.

I believe the Viton is more ethanol resistant that's why it's used , I just had to replace some float valve sets on an in-line four cylinder and these were "the answer" to the crappy gas we now sell at the pumps . As far as the cost I just checked Halls price:eek: and it's listed as $47.50 . Wow a fat o-ring for $47.50  . Where in the hell did they come up with the pricing ?

Seriously! $47.50 for just the o ring?

I work as a mechanical Technician and a chemical plant and we use Viton o rings for some of the special applications, the previous thread has stated there are more resistant the methanol, this is true if you use a standard O ring it will perish in weeks.
There is a less expensive option there called encapsulated O rings there half the price and last just as long however they are outdated now so Viton is the answer.
If you can get me the diameter and how much you need I may be able to help.

I have to say that all of us with fuel injected bikes , if kept long enough will more than likely be faced with this problem . An alternative to the ridiculously priced o-ring , (just like the fuel pump where you had to purchase a whole new assembly from Husqvarna) , or whoever is going to sell replacement parts is a welcome piece of information .

What did you end up doing? I have the exact same problem, it looks like there is a gap at the bottom and at the edges it was originally fine after i recently switched back from a long range fuel tank that always leaked so cant use it but the stock tank was always finebut now it also leaks. I have been searching everywhere for the right O-ring and i cant find the right size.

In Montreal here we have a place called RB Packing.
They have every imaginable o ring on hand or available if not.
I am sure there must be similar businesses in most major American
cities located near industrialized areas. Highly doubtful Husk would
not be using standard items. Will be metric sized for sure though.
