Just thought I'd give people a headsup on this pretty good price for the GPS that most people use. http://www.rei.com/search?query=garmin map 60csx&button.x=37&button.y=1 Till the 31st.
First, let me apologize for hijacking this thread. BUT, I do want to learn more about this topic. I know as much about the Sierra Club as ya'll know about the Sons of the Confederate It's fact that REI is a strong supporter of the Sierra Club..... "REI is proud of its history of support for programs of the Sierra Club that protect and preserve wild places........." - David Jayo, REI What I'm not too sure of is the Sierra Club's stance on land use related to dirtbikes. I think I know what it is (I'm sure we could all guess) but I don't have any first hand experience with it and I don't like basing my opinions on hearsay. Anyone? I mtn bike, hike, camp, ski....so I like REI....but I haven't purchased anything from there in years. BTW, that is a great price for a great GPS
Cabela's has it for $219.99! http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...311301&cm_ite=0036479229052a&_requestid=44509
I've been trying to map out my areas I ride, but they are heavily treed-- I can't get a signal most of the time. Do some GPS's work better than others for getting a signal? EDIT: Never mind. Google is my friend-- guess I've been too lazy to look it up.
REI probably has more in common with PETA than the AMA or CORVA but neither they nor the Sierra Club are the devil incarnate. OK, possibly they're the handmaidens. For $20, maybe Cabela's would be the better choice...politically speaking. I resisted getting another one but I did look at the kayaks.
Cabela's is the better deal as it comes w/the Topo DVD. You really need the better map.And for $20 it's a steal.
F2G, I don't know where it is-- it's packed away in a hunting pack somewhere, but...... I can tell you what's on order glangston-- thanks for starting this thread... I think. Ya' just cost me a couple hundred.
Bass Pro Shops also has them for $199: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/s...1001_250000000_250001000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_DEPT
Does anyone have experinece with free topo maps, such as this one: http://www.gpsfiledepot.com/maps/view/134/ I ordered my GPS before seeing Cabela's bundle price show up.
the free topo stuff isd as good or better than the garmin one IMHO. Wish i could find a free streets one for mine.
