Have an 08 Wr 250 with the stock gas cap. The H in it stops at East and West versus the North and South. Exactly 1/4 turn off. Does anyone have a quick fix to this, other than filing the neck down some and flushing the plastic remains out of the tank? Thanx! Typpyt
I could never get mine to line up either (07 TE -450). Didn't try modifying it. I'd be a little sketchy of trying to file the threads, being plastic and all. I fixed it by getting a 3.4 IMS and a new cap. Lines up perfect every time now
Same thing with my '07 450 .... figuring it's by design not a flaw. Memory tells me the cap has an o-ring retained in a groove. So if it's a mod you want to get it to face you, (and not messing with the tank), i think you gotta remove a certain depth of material from the underside of the cap. Inboard and outboard of the o-ring groove...and you might need a bit thinner o-ring. Dunno. Sound like a lot of work. If it bugs you, maybe just remove the "H" from the cap. dave
I would just get the Project 321 carbon model and be done with it.....oh wait there's one sitting on my bike right now...haha. Anyway, these are some SWEET looking caps and ARE LIGHTER than a regular cap (the carbon model). Here is a link: http://www.project321.com/motoGCcarbon.php
I noticed that too after I posted the link that Husqvarna isn't listed. I honestly don't know what to tell you, but all I know is that they make them. I had a couple on both my '07 race bikes and that was when they first started making them for the Husky's and I recently had him send me another for the new 450. Fitment is perfect and needless to say, the carbon fiber model looks ridiculous! See ya. Blake Young
Went back through it last night. The rubber gasket diaphram was not seated below the threads. It is very hard to tell if it is under this little lip. I am going to glue it in so it stays put with some weather strip adhesive. Now, I am only 1/4 turn off. I am going to take a sanding block and hit the filler neck above the thread till it comes out correct. I want to keep the stock one because I inserted red enamal paint in it and looks bad. I have spent this long (too long) winter working on this bike. But will tell you that when it pulls in the race track, it will be the topic of discussion. My last bike, RMZ 250 was the same way.
Get a cap off an 09 WR250/300. They use the same tank but a different cap that is easier to grab onto.
Right above the choose your bike function there is a note that says they make caps for some models of Huskys. You just have to call and ask if they make your year. I also have the 321 cap and it threads on perfect everytime. I had a bad problem with the old not threding on straight.
Yeah!! I really like the 321 cap, I will give them a call. I currently have a Acerbis cap and it has solved all my problems with the "junk" stock cap. Seals very well.
