    Hi,

My garage has just started smelling like gas a couple of days ago. Well, today I saw that gas was leaking out from my gas cap on my 2008 610. This is happening when the Bike is parked.

I guess there is something wrong with the seal. It looks like gas is evaporating up and seeping out from under the Gas Cap. The bike has never done this before. (The Gas is not topped off in the tank.)

I am wondering if the last time I filled up, a seal or something fell off the Gas Cap. I seem to remember there being a green rubber seal on it. But I am not sure. (There is no green seal now.)

Anyways, should there be a green round seal on the Gas Cap.

    Thanks

    Rick

Try removing the little green one way valve from the tank vent.

After removing the charcoal cannister from my '08 it started leaking fuel around the cap. The one way valve was the problem. It wasn't allowing the tank to vent properly so it would build pressure and leak.

Removing the valve fixed the problem.

My one-way vent opens only when pressure buildup is significant enough to force it open, and then it closes again. So, with a full tank of fuel, it's not uncommon to hear the Husky bray like a donkey every few minutes as the pressure is released.

    It's 'passing gas'....

The vent, gas cap, and gas cap seal are 3 different things. Under the gas cap (on my TE250) is a strangely shaped (bulbus?) seal that can be removed and seems easy to rip - at least mine is from having the seal not all the way up at the top of the cap while screwing it on the tank.

I've removed the vent valve on mine and put a vent hose on it and it no longer makes noise.

I can hear the pressure release when I take off the gas cap.

I just took off the green valve. I hope thats it.

    Thanks

I just went out and looked at mine and what you should have is a green O ring. If you look at the tank, there is a lip that goes around the opening. The green o ring mates to that lip. I really dont see how it could of just fallen out, mine is in there pretty good.

Taking off the grean valve stopped the leaking.

Today I will see about replacing the missing O ring.
