Winter...removed carb and vforce reeds and going to clean and replace anything as seen that needs replacement. Carb looks great other than gasket ripping at throttle cable plate...probably didnt help that it was minus 30 c yesterday...garage was a taad chilly. Reeds had minor damage....swapped out.

Question...removing reeds basket to swap out reeds reaulted in a shredded gasket. In reading....seems going with a liquid gasket vs paper gasket best for seal? "Mark" from quadexpert recommends three bond in between carb boot (grabbed a new one as well) to help with seal. Do I need to use paper gasket or anyone just bypass that and stick with a "threebond" liquid gasket?

Btw...Kudos to Mark from quadexpert....I left his store even MORE jacked to ride this new to me rig this season...apparently the bike has some racing histroy ;)

Another method is to use paper gaskets on either side of the reed block, Husky OEM or older Honda CR. Seems to work for me on both WRs, no leaks that I can tell.

Used a liberal amt of threebond 1184 in between reed basket/cylinder and carb boot/reed basket....feeling pretty confident that this sealed....a slightly iffy moment watching gasket material purging into reed basket but caught in time....lesson learned...a little goes a long way with this 3 bond stuff:eek:

Ha three bond i used once and it remains slightly prone to fuel when i next tore the bike down there were grey specks of threebone all over my reeds, and a stringy grey on the cage, personally i would use a small amount of RTV silicone and a papergasket any day.

Crazy this popped up today as I am in process of tear down and replace top end on my 04 cr125. Does anyone know if you can just replace reeds? If so have the#? Was on mototassinari Vforce site and can't find anything. Would replace whole assembly if that's the only choice. Thanks
