I'm curious about the lack of USA riders not entered in this weekends GP's in Cal. There are some american riders entered and bully for them, takes some heart to engage on the world stage. I don't see the usual heroes though. How about Stewart and Villopoto? Where are the top 5? Anyone care to explain how as a rider you would miss the big stage.
May be someone more in the know on this but I have always understood that there isn't much in this for the AMA American riders.... just a chance to get hurt and then not be able to go to Hangtown. GH used to be the season opener here... negotiations failed last year for the Outdoor series and now GH has negotiated a five year contract to host the World Championship. Outdoor AMA series added Pala MX last year to replace GH. T
OK, i get it, it makes sense i guess. Still if your making the big bucks to race then you should be able to justify racing with the world's best. C'mn boys step it up. I'm rooting for Aprillia and TM, the MX1 class is unreal. Predict Husky top ten finish in MX2 they have some very good riders from Italy. I would like to attend this and will next yr. for shore. Candy for the eyes anyone?
$$$ and contracts and sponsors,,,,,, was hoping for SoCals ML170 to ready for action in MX2 on the TC250, looks like EMX2 rider Cervellin will fill in for him.
$$$$$$$$$$$, and there you have it. Can't have your product or hero drilled by a outsider then can we? Anyway it will be fun. The TC250 should get the Trophy for pure puxxy.
a guy i went to school with, got hooked up with the Oakland A's back in the 90s. Signed his contract got a good sized bonus and was rollin on through....well back home visitin he decided to play a lil basketball with friends and ended up tearing his mcl/acl (i think it was) but ended up ruining his career pretty much before it started........nothing to do with bikes really, just a little example of how things can go south on you and why they dont want ya in races they arent paying you for.
Basket ball is sport that has injured many and in most cases its a guy from another sport playing it ... Hard on UR knees and ankles ... You can drag up all the $ stories you want to but these guys are still wussying out to some degree ... first, if you can't complete a race that you are a PRO at? What are you? Second, if you have some suit telling you what you can and can't do in your profession, what are you? To be fair here, most of these riders are < 23 yrs old? No spirit, no guts is what this shows ... js and cr run their own teams, right? What are they? The days of old where we had pride in racing the world is really over ... we wait for 1 race each year ... That's reality today ... yippee. Maybe the ama does not wanna support the event is always a possibility? Husqvarna will get some air time so it is a big success ...
Second, if you have some suit telling you what you can and can't do in your profession, what are you? rich lol i had too i agree with you but at the same time if your under contract you know your not goin to risk your job for a one race payout.
it would be nice to see a regular combination of the worlds best on different tracks for sure though.....
I'm not sure how the cookie crumbles ( the contract ) but if I wanted to race, I'd say so at contract signing time ... Maybe the option is on the table or maybe it is not ... I've never heard a racer say much more on the subject than the words here .. ... js is the owner and a millionaire? cr the same? What's their excuse? I need rest? These races are just a job .. show up and do what the boss says to do ... nothing more, nothing less ... The only real question is: Who's the boss here?
lol ... I'd like any usa guy to let the EUs know, you can come over and race and I'll show you the way around our track ... js and cr are 2 guys many like to call owners ... they run their show, right? Why aren't they there?
i dunno, maybe just want the extra rest but i bet you might be onto something with the ama.... who knows
Not enough meat on the bone .. They are PRO racers ... AKA --you want to see my skills? Show me the money ... I though cr might show but he apparently feels he made enough hay in sx and does not need to proven anything more to get $$ from sponsors ... js? Why bother? He's got his REP and it ain't changing with any win here ...
This might inspire a young rider to ask for a change in his future contracts. The South Point Hotel, which is a big supporter of professional racing, has posted a $100,000 bonus to any American who can win the MX1 450 class at the USGP at Glen Helen on Sunday. That is $100 large, plus the $5000 Marty Moates bonus—which means that for an American rider who could win the USGP —it would be the biggest payday ever. No entry fee for American riders ... lol
