I had gotten a Go Pro hero just before I broke my leg, didn't get a chance to use it and I forgot about it. Now I am ready to try it out and I am looking for info on how best to use it. What is the best battery? Any paticular memory card? Best way to set the angle for good view. Thanks, GP
I'm pretty certain the camera is a Canon because my iMovie program says so. The battery it comes with is probably the only battery to get right now but I wouldn't doubt a Canon battery could be found that's the same....just won't be any cheaper. I usually get Kingston SD cards but have used others. You'll just have to see what you like from the POV of either on top of the helmet, on the side, or a chest mount....Pretty sure the vibration of the bars is excessive for any quality You'll just have to trial and error to get the angle right. Much easier with a camera that has a lcd viewing screen. Not sure if they make one for the camera or not. The wide angle of the camera helps make the angle to the ground less critical. You'll just be pointing more at the tire or further down the road. This is what made me think the chest mount would be even less critical for angle. Haven't tried it yet though. Some time later this month hopefully. If you take a minute or so at different angles and mark the holder (white paint or?) for each take you should be able to get the view you want when you view the downloads. I set a Canon Vixio on my helmet with industrial velcro and then adjusted it as I took some videos in the yard. EDit...I'm assuming the camera is HD, if not dis-regard the battery stuff
I have the Motorsprots HERO Wide and for dirt/off-road helmet mount is best; use one of the double stick tape mounts. For my street bike I tried many locations with sticky mounts and then recently bought the bar mount to put on my frame sliders which should look great with more extention from the bike. I am assuming you have the wide angle lense and got the Motorsports package with all the different mounts. Do the firmware upgrade from the GoPro site and you can use an 8gb SDHC card! It also fixes a few other things. Get several sets of Nmh batteries and a good charger. Viewing the shots from the GoPro drains the batteries very fast, remove the card to view and transfer. Paul
I got a great deal on EBay, 12 AAA Energizer Lithium batteries for $18.00 with free shipping. The Lithium seem to work the best as rechargeable batteries sux. I mounted my camera under my visor, it's a little weird at first but I can see through the goggles fine & the camera is a little better "protected" & if it gets knocked off I'll know immediately. This is not my helmet but it's a good pic....
I had mine under the visor too...this new helmet I cant put it there...so its on the chinbar...I really like it causer you see my arms and how hard i am working.... I use Enercell rechargable Lit batteries from Radio shack...they out last the 4 gig card i use...card lasts about 1-1/2 hrs...they were cheap something like 15 bux for the charger and batteries...the card is a 4 gig SDHC card...I have about 40 uses on the batteries so far without a problem...oh they are 850 ahm(?)...the higher the better they will last
